Hi all.....have come home to a house with no heating and no hot water - think the boiler's sulking. No pilot light although it's making all the right sounds?? Told the children they will need to boil a kettle to have a good stand-up wash tomorrow. Needless to say they're not impressed.
 Wusses the lot of them.
Wow this was commonplace when I was young. That and falling asleep infront of the fire and being moved into bed last thing at night because we had no central heating  Children have it easy these days 0 0

Have you tried relighting the pilot light Suzy?
 Glad you slept Sammy.

I used to have a boiler system where if the water level dropped in the system the pilot light wouldn't light....couldn't be that coud it
I used to have a bath in a tin bath in front of a gas fire...:rotfl:Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

I used to have a bath in the kitchen sink...when I was 5!
I lived in a cottage made of wood (not joking, in Canadian winters) and we used bin liners filled with leaves to insultate around the house and put plastic over all the windows.
 I WIN!
(oh, and no central heating...just 1 heater)Empty pockets never held anyone back, only empty heads and empty hearts can do that -Peale0

Funny you should say that Sammy....the upstairs overflow has been leaking for the past 3 weeks (despite calling out stroppy plumber who is ignoring my calls ). Wonder if that could be it. Said plumber is coming round tomorrow morning to look at the boiler and the overflow at the same time. I wonder.....
At the moment we are huddled in the lounge round ye olde Delonghi oil filled radiator.
LOL... Pap, I do have a gas fire....totally forgot as I never use it....DOH
Bookie - the instructions say it's an automatic pilot light and I can't see an obvious ignition button.
 Bun - I wish!!YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)
really....it's not hard to understand :T0

Gone beyond worrying to be honest - what's the point? It's only a house - a home is where I am at the time and it can be anywhere.
Blooming tireed - I must be getting old!0

Suzy, hope you get sorted soon hun. It's not the right time of year for the boiler to break is it
My old boiler wouldnt work until we ran some water from the hot water tap. ...Linda xxIt's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0
