Wow this was commonplace when I was young. That and falling asleep infront of the fire and being moved into bed last thing at night because we had no central heating :rolleyes: Children have it easy these days

I used to have a boiler system where if the water level dropped in the system the pilot light wouldn't light....couldn't be that coud it

I used to have a bath in a tin bath in front of a gas fire...:rotfl:

I feel so much better today Bookie having had a decent nights sleep...another half a tablet tonight. I was really scared that I wouldn't wake up this morning!

I used to have a bath in the kitchen sink...when I was 5!
I lived in a cottage made of wood (not joking, in Canadian winters) and we used bin liners filled with leaves to insultate around the house and put plastic over all the windows.

I WIN!

(oh, and no central heating...just 1 heater)

Funny you should say that Sammy....the upstairs overflow has been leaking for the past 3 weeks (despite calling out stroppy plumber who is ignoring my calls :mad:). Wonder if that could be it. Said plumber is coming round tomorrow morning to look at the boiler and the overflow at the same time. I wonder.....

At the moment we are huddled in the lounge round ye olde Delonghi oil filled radiator.

LOL... Pap, I do have a gas fire....totally forgot as I never use it....DOH

Bookie - the instructions say it's an automatic pilot light and I can't see an obvious ignition button.

Gone beyond worrying to be honest - what's the point? It's only a house - a home is where I am at the time and it can be anywhere.

Suzy, hope you get sorted soon hun. It's not the right time of year for the boiler to break is it :rolleyes:

My old boiler wouldnt work until we ran some water from the hot water tap. Strange creatures, boilers
