Best used in conjunction with the Shell credit card - points build faster.Only apply for one for yourself initially, 'cos they'll send a letter asking if you want an additional holder on the account & give you another 1500 points for doing so (thats what happened for us) The form is in the petrol station.

If you're clever enough to keep on the quaterly 'target' they set for extra points, you'll earn more.

Use Optimax fuel - more expensive, but more points quite often!

Fill in the questionaires they mail you for free points.

Cash the points in for vouchers for more fuel is ok - but you'll not earn on the voucher spend.

We choose Boots vouchers, 'cos you'll still earn Boots Advantage cards on a voucher spend!!

& as you're buying the fuel anyway, you may as well collect them!!

1500 points = £10 Boots or Shell or other shops vouchers.

I use the Shell plus points card as well as a few of the local stations are Shell.

If they are more expensive I go for the cheper, the card doesn't make me loyal to that brand of petrol and these days I don't do that many miles to hit the higher targets.

When I first got the card they did 1 point per £, but as petrol prices went up they revised it to 1 point per litre instead so they were handing out less points.

I do the questionaires as well, not really many points for them but it adds up I suppose.

I redeam my points for shell vouchers as I know I am going to spend them, I think I do get plus points on the times I fill up and use vouchers as well though.

I have a pluspoints card too, but to be honest I think Shell are a bit tight but I have the card as Shell and Tesco are the best pumps in town for price. I've not claimed any points yet and i've had the thing nearly two years and have 1300 points and i'm a regular-ish but use Tesco more at the moment due to better prices.

Whoever is a regular at BP must be either insane or has no other alternative (in which case I feel sorry for you). How come Tesco charge 93p-ish a litre and BP charge 900 squillion pounds a litre? Even the other garages don't seem to be as sky-high as BP.

I am amazed! When I first got my shell card in the year 1996 I think it was, they did not have this thing where you have to buy 400 litres of fuel points in a quarter to get anything! I only just found out about this and BOY! AM I MAD! So I've been loyal to this company and have faithfully produced my card all these years for what? Bloomin nothing recently!! When did they change the rules? I only use about 200 lites a quarter.

I found a link to a website on google slagging off pluspoints but it had been taken down. Now I know what the gripes must have been. I want to reem all my 2500 points and never buy petrol from there again. Whats the best way of getting the money back?

I will go to Asda instead, cheaper as well!

Filled up at BP for 92.9p/litre this morning and Shell was 93.9p/litre. But generally, I agree that BP is usually more expensive...!

Thanks. I see they do 'for a limited period' £5 vouchers as well as £10. So the £10 ones are worth 1500 points. I can't have two of those because I only have 2500 points. But should I then presume that the £5 ones are worth 750 points? On the website it doesn't say! Does anyone know?
  • i just found out that I received 359 points last quarter :(

I fill up every week... this 400 litres malarky is daft
