We are moving to Virgin and will be giving our Sky+ box to a friend. They already have Sky, so I assume they will need a Sky+ viewing card, but will they be charged any extra ?

as long as they have got two leads coming from the dish it will work with just the one lead but you will only be able to watch and tape the same channel you are watching
as for the card the friend just needs to ring sky up to pair the box to there card and ask for the + bits to be turned on and no its not any extra unless they don't have any channels at all0
