Feedback for unlockingonline.com/ a.k.a http://mobileunlocked.com/

Purchased an unlock code from http://unlockingonline.com/ on Saturday for my BB Bold 9700.

After about an hour, I got five codes sent through. This didn’t fill me with confidence, as I would have thought it was one IMEI, one unlock code.

I tried all five codes, and each one failed. I then went through a long list of Q+A’s on their website and waited for a response.

First contact came from them 48hrs later! Prior to this I had made contact with Cellunlock .net from Crackberry, who guaranteed a single code, and a guaranteed unlock.

I paid Cellunlock who also offer Crackberry members a 50% discount, and within a few hours got a single unlock code, which worked first time.

Finally at 18:19hrs on Monday 9th, got my first response from Unlockingonline’s (mobileunlocked.com) support, asking for more info! The original codes had been sent at 7 November 2009 16:30, so slightly over 48hrs for first response to support request.

I replied today asking for a refund, not confident, that when the BB becomes permanently locked after 10 attempts to use this company any further, and they replied with an immediate no……48hrs to reply to a request for support, less than half an hour to decline a refund.

I then replied, telling them to keep the refund, but that I would post feedback to various forums, to prevent other people experiencing what I had experienced.

Within 5 minutes, a threat of legal action for defamation! But a useful link to what it means on Wikipedia :)

Draw your own conclusions about using this company folks.

I purchased a code for my Blackberry 9700 from blackberryunlocking co uk which is part of Unlocking Online Ltd, I wanted a quick one as I was going out that evening, their website quoted 5-30 minutes.
I was sent to another website where my 3 codes appeared, after trying all 3 codes NON OF THEM WORKED!

I sent an email to their support team, asking for more codes to try. I waited several hours and didn't receive a reply, therefore I sent a further request for a refund and went to another company
the first code they sent me worked perfectly and my phone was unlocked.

Finally I got an email from Unlocking Online Ltd who run several websites including: blackberryunlock co uk, unlock-blackberry co uk, blackberryunlocking com, nokiaunlocking com, samsungunlocking com, samsung-unlock co uk, htcunlocking com, htcunlock com, htcunlocking co uk, alcatel-unlock com, lgunlocking com, lg-unlocking com, lg-unlocking co uk, lg-unlock com, sonyericssonunlocking com, sony-ericsson-unlock com, unlock-sony-ericsson co uk.

The email stated I wasn’t allowed a refund due to the fact this item had been delivered, and they cannot be refunded unless you can prove the code was faulty, but at no point was I told how I can prove that it was faulty. They then said:

Our system is designed to provide correct codes by following a strict series of procedures.

It is not possible for you to now prove that our codes have failed if you have now purchased a code from another supplier. You have broken our contract of sale.

We have strict and clear terms relating to this which you have already agreed
    to:

    7.10
Guarantee applies only where customers have demonstrated that codes have failed by providing a detailed account of the procedure they followed and any error messages they received. We must be satisfied that the code is wrong or has failed to work.
    7.11
Guarantee does not apply where customer has sought an alternative unlocking solution before properly and fully receiving the service ordered from us.

I then offered them the chance to supply me a new code for a Blackberry Storm 2 that my dad had just purchased.
    They refused.

    And stated:

“Our codes were supplied in full accordance with our terms of sale.
By law, neither party can retract on that contract.

We have been invoiced by our supplier for your first set of codes
and are not prepared to make a financial loss by supplying more codes.

Our terms of sale are laid out in a manner that everyone can understand and
are crystal clear for this very reason.”

They then went on to talk about more legislations that seems to put them above the law.

"Under those regulations if we have clearly stated that the service begins at the point of payment,
we are not obliged by law to provide any refund as the service has now been undertaken."

My point was they didn’t give me a full service, I told them in my refund request what I had done, in a step-by-step account.

As my codes didn’t work they should have asked for a refund from their supplier and then given me a new set. They failed to give me a service I paid for!

Don’t use any of the websites I have listed as their refund policy is ridiculous and I believe unlawful.

Please copy and paste this across the web so we can stop this company from holding on to peoples money!

I hope this review of Unlocking Online Limted and their various websites is a one off, but I really doubt it!

And for the last time Unlocking Online Limited give me a refund!
  • And the worst thing is, Paypal still allow this to continue, when I contacted them they couldn't care less....Paypal allows scammers to use their service, great!
  • I contacted Paypal again with a link to this page, and they don't care...Maybe Martin should take Paypal on, they seem quite happy to let this mob continue without interference.
