A bus hit me!

Well not me, my poor brother. This happened back in the summer. I am not sure whose fault it is, but I want to help my brother. The bus company told him, the driver said it was him and the driver has sourced two passengers who were on the bus at the time who has agreed it was not her fault. The bus company advised that my brother paid them cash for their repair works as this would work out cheaper for him as he is under 19 so his no claims would go through the roof. This to me seems complete bribery as it would not cost him the £2,000 they are asking for repairs. That is why we have insurance.

Does anyone have any advice, I am planning on writing to them and representing him.

    Your post doesn't make sense.

If you are involved in a traffic incident due to the fact that insurance is compulsory in the UK for motor vehicles then you let your insurance company deal with it.

    You've given no details though.

    What happened?

    What's the question?

Ok, for people who can't understand... GOING THROUGH THE INSURANCE WILL COST HIM MONEY AND THE BUS COMPANY APPEAR TO HAVE MATERIALISED TWO WITNESSES DESPITE AT THE TIME OF INCIDENT DRIVER ADMITTING FAULT. I REQUIRE HELP IN WRITING THEM A LETTER TO EXPLAIN THIS.

It probably will work out cheaper. The repair works may well be £2k (you any idea how much buses cost to buy?). A claim would then probably double his insurance for a few years as well as ding his NCB down to nothing.

I'm still not sure what your question is though.

Ok, well from what I hear, it was a very low speed scrape. Nothing serious. Seems a very large amount of money for such a minor indident.

You people make me laugh. I have tried to make the post as small as possible to save people reading lots. if it is too long you all complain saying there is too much to read and you can't be bothered. Keep it too short and people winge they don't know what I am going on about.
I am finding it hard to understand how at this point people cant understand that I NEED ADVICE ON HOW TO WRITE A LETTER TO A BUS COMPANY WHO ARE ASKING MY BROTHER TO PAY THEM MONEY FOR A REPAIR. that is all.
    God almighty.

If you really want people to help you with this issue then maybe you shouldn't be so critical! It isn't really clear what you want from your first post (although it may be to you!)

Write to the bus company by all means but as they are a large company I doubt they will take a letter from you seriously. You could try calling their bluff and see where it gets you. Tell them that the driver admitted fault at the time of the accident. I assume when you mean it will cost your brother you are talking about the excess. Citizens Advice may be able to help you put a letter together.

My advice is to let the insurance company appoint a solicitor and let them sort it out. If you do not want to go down that route then I would consider joining Which Legal. I have used them several times in the past and gone to the small claims court with their advice and won. You do have to pay a fee renewable quarterly but you can just sign up for one quarter.

It would be impossible to write a decent letter without the details; otherwise it will be totally generic.

Keep it to bullet points of what happened [step by step]; and ask for what you want. It helps to give timescales of what happened, when.

And if you want advice on writing a letter; then just put that in your original post. People aren't psychic.

Why didn't you say that you wanted help in writing a letter in the first place?

No where in your original post did you state I want to write a letter to the bus company to dispute the cost of the repairs for an accident where my brother was not at fault.
