Barclays Bank!!!

Just phoned them up because i've lost that stupid card reader for online banking and found out there's a £6 charge for a new one!!

I never wanted the stupid thing in the first place so why should i have to pay out for a new one. I know its my fault for losing it, but they're so small its not hard to do.
I wonder how much they've made from others who do this!

Any ideas what i can do to get around paying it? Apart from moving to another bank which i've thought about doing for a while. I don't need online banking, there's a barclays about a 10 minute walk, it's just convenient.

£6 isn't that bad for what it does, really.

I got sent two originally (dispatch mistake I think).. if I can find where I put it you can have it.

Shout and scream down the phone, I did.
I opened a business account and a personal account. They only sent me one reader as I only had one 'customer number' -something the Barclays back office give you.

Ask asked if they think it is reasonable that I carry one reader between the office and home. They agreed it was fair.

Anyway a lot of shouting commenced and they agree to send one out.

DO NOT PAY FOR IT.....

OP, too late now but if it happens again just say that yours is faulty - they do not ask for the faulty one back and will send you a replacement at no charge.

I was thinking of saying it was faulty but was worried about them asking for it back.
I think its going to be a change of bank, i've been with them for 15 years, you'd think they would let me off this time!

Yeah....I am not here to make friends with service providers, I am here to make money. If I don't get what I want to start with, eventually I get it anyway.

So if they ask for it back you say you send it then when they don't receive it, well you sent it, not your fault the post lost it.

Nationwide have a card reader also. You can use the Nationwide one to log into Barclays and vice versa.

I think you will find all the banks will move over to them. Cannot see the point in moving banks to run away from something designed to protect your account.
