But the fact remains that the Apple locked-down walled garden that is their implementation of the iPhone is safer than the free and open anything goes jail-broken version of it. It's not only safer, but it has encouraged more innovation and attracted more developers than any other mobile operating system, free, proprietary, or otherwise.
But its not locked down, hence the jail-broken ones (the words jail and broken speaks to what people think of the safe walled garden). And I can honestly say it would attract more developers if apple didn't make people jump through hoops so much, after all these jail breakers are just developers without apples approval.0 -

It's locked down to the best of Apple's ability at this moment in time. Unfortunately for Apple, when they figure out a new way to lock it down, the people doing the jail-breaking don't stop trying to find a way around it.0 -

And paradoxically the best way to stop this roundabout is to open it up.
The PSP-3000 was meant to be unbreakable, sony have been at this longer than apple and they've not managed yet to stop the jail-breaker/homebrewers.0 -
