crikey never seen pipes laid diagonal across the floor like that! and cut into the floors!

Neither had any of the other workmen I'd employed at the time and it was quite a talking point. I live in a close-knit town and word got out quickly. There were a few times I was questioned in the pub so when asked I invited them round to take a look. They all went away muttering "I've never seen that before" :rotfl:

btw, sorry to hijack your thread

There were more DIY bodges in the house but I can't talk about them yet without lots of whisky first
  • get yourself some Whisky and type away.:D
  • Great, Air Source heat pump isn't pumping out hot air. Looks like it is going to cost between £270-£350 to repair.
  • Oh dear. The problem is everything costs more than you think.

We had to buy a new door bell (£60) because the old one only worked intermittently, that explains why she was always on the doorstep before we rang the bell.

We had no TV signal so we had freesat installed cost about £130.

New cheap curtains because the ones that were left had bits fall off everytime you touch them £160 (only temporary until we've done some building work.)

New ceiling roses because the old ones shattered when we tried to take the lightshade off. Don't know how much but not many £

Drain rods because she said she'd get the drains unblocked and didn't. £20

New TRV because when we tried to turn it it snapped off. £7

New curtain train because the old one snapped when trying to change the curtains. (do you see a theme?)

We've been here 2 months and I'm sure there's loads more but with so many mini disasters it's hard to keep track.
  • Crikey you've had it just as bad as me!

    PS what's a TRV?
