I accounted for all the decorating below are the bits i didn't
Just over 2 weeks in so far
£160 on lock smith sorting out a lock
£50 Eon engineer to replace prepayment meter to a standard one
£115 on Air Source Heat pump service
£80 (potentially more as this still needs to be done ) service hot water cylinder
£170 on electrician to fit outdoor mains point , replace halogen light transformer and dimmer switch
First 4 are essential last one was more of a luxury besides the dimmer i guess which was a must if i want to keep my retinas.
I'm sure others have beaten that

What is the heat pump?
No idea what I'll get hit with, place seems great but the way my luck is going so far it will have been built over an ancient indian burial ground. How much does it cost to hire an old priest and a young priest, do they charge by the hour or spirit?0 -
Air Source Heat pump is my heating system - similar to the ground source heat pumps ( coils buried under ground to get heat from the earths heat ) but gets heat from the outside air. Very efficent which is a plus point.
Good luck with your move! Lets hope you don't have too many unexpected costs if any.0 -
A substantial bill from the 'fee free' mortgage arranger!!!!!!!!!!!0

One thing I was adamant on was actual total bills upfront, I said from the start I wanted fixed costs. I may have paid a little over the odds at first, but with the hassle I've had I'm damn glad I did!0

How comes you had to pay for your meter to be replaced?
When I've got meters replaced they have been done for free.
I don't change utility company until after I received the next bill though.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)0 -
It was a prepayment meter that Eon had, and i can't change providers until i have a normal meter. As Eon own the meter only they are the only ones that can change it0

Losing our passports somewhere in the packing :rotfl:, changing locks should be cheaper just buy the barrels and DiY, mail redirection, rental van trying to argue we dented it, new toilet seat (they took it ), loads of take-aways because the cooker didn't turn up....0 -

Hi clockworks
Probably too late for you but just a quick heads up for anyone else with an E.ON Prepayment Meter.
Customers with our Prepayment Meters are free to change supplier at any time. We only usually object if there is a debt on the meter.
As you say, we do charge £50 each time we change a meter for a non-essential reason. This is to cover the cost of the engineer doing the work.
However, I don't think every supplier charges a fee. Not sure; might be an idea to check this out if anyone else is in a similar situation.
Hope this is helpful but give me a shout if you need any more details as always happy to help.
