ORANGE - Mid-contract cancellation?

I have a contract that doesn't end until next August (18 month contract).
I am off travelling in January for a year and would like to change my contract from a pay-monthly to a pay-as-you-go for that year and then back to monthly when I'm back... iphone hopefully!

I understand that this is going to cost me but does anyone know how much and how I go about doing it?

Thanks in advance.

  • You have to ask tp buy out your contract - pay for how many months you have less (exc.vat). I would lower your tariff first though.

Lowering your tariff won't help, they will charge you your initial contract monthly charge * months remaining.

It would be cheaper to drop it to the lower tariff and pay for it like that, you could consider selling the contract to a friend or family. Otherwise you will be paying for something you won't be using.

They won't to give you a 12 month suspension on the contract.

IIRC you can pause your contract with orange for travelling and just continue on your return.

I have friends that did this prior to there oz trip, but his was a couple of years ago.

    Worth dropping them a call.
  • I'm on Racoon 25 now which is £20/month.
Do you have to pay the whole amount or is just for a few months? i.e. If I cancel it from January I will have 7 months left so would I have to pay £140??

I understand I've had a free phone but would be willing to give it back if it helps.
