Only if it's a LOT cheaper,now...Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0 -
You want an incentive not to buy an ipod? Read last Sunday's Guardian article about how cr*p they are and how they're considered to be disposable items by Apple. If you really want putting off, I could tell you the details of my ongoing battle with Apple that started in Nov last year when my 3-month old ipod broke....
You couldn't pay me enough to buy another ipod - their after-sales 'service' is an absolute joke and they treat these rather expensive items as disposable after one year.
If you want a really expensive, well-designed paperweight, go ahead!0 -
Sparkle monkey,
Am I right in thinking it was you just a few days ago who was worrying about paying your dad back when you come back from Japan? Surely if you can give money to the Apple coffers, your dad or opther debtors need to come first.
Second. A flash drive can cost £20. That will store, or as Calley says disks are fine.
Third, I echo what calley says about need. You work out the difference between need and want. If you are worried about finding work or whatever on your return, at the end of the day 200 will last at least a month on bus fares, to interviews and so on. Really, you just dont NEED it. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
I will post something really nice now and stop being so mean:D
I love the username of Sparkle monkey.
As I said before all the best.
And take it easy.
Yours

Hi everyone,
Thanks for your replies - I post dilemmas on here because of the honesty and the kick up the !!! your responses give me.
Yes I am the same person who was worrying about paying my dad back. I've paid off £7000 since August but unfortunately still have moments of waivering from the MSE path (in my mind anyway).
I'm definitely not going to buy one but sometimes I just need to hear from someone else how stupid my idea is! :rotfl:0 -
You CAN use an ipod as a portable hard drive, but it isn't a very good solution. It is pretty slow. Its a nice function if you are carrying the ipod around anyway but it wouldn't be my choice.
I do have to say though that the Sony players are not better than the ipod. Hardware maybe but the software is a dog and not a patch on iTunes IMHO0 -
If you are going to buy one anyway they are about £30 cheaper on Amazon.co.uk

By default, correct.
However there are programs that allow this setting to be changed.
I think i-opener does it from memory, or you can store files as mp3 rather than apples default type and they can be played on many more players

Buy a creative labs player instead
They are better in all respects (sound, Price and so on)
