I bought a De-Longhi DES14. Cost about £120 to £130 delivered. It is suitable for a 3 bed semi sized house.

They do a DES16 model with a higher extraction rate for a few quid more and for a bigger house.

Does a good job and it's a bit more slim line, designed so it can be tight to a wall. I chose it because it's not such an eyesore to look at.

I used it alot at first as we had plaster drying out and the main reason I got it. I now just run it a couple of times a week to keep the humidity to a low level to help with astma, which I used to get at night. Not had a problem with it since and our relative humidity stays between 36% and 50% as a general rule, which I find most comfortable all round.

Oh, when I was looking, I also found a site that listed the power consumption of all the models, so you could make a choice based on running costs and rule out any energy sapping models.

I'll see if I can find it, as it changed my mind on the first model I had set my sights on, when I saw how many watts it used compared to others.
