Perhaps this thread would have been better posted on the ebay sub-forum of MSE?

There you would have been advised to report the non-paying bidder which would result in them receiving a strike (and ultimately closure of their ebay account depending on overall performance history, thereby helping other ebayers).
Probably no FVF as it was a motor, so no fee to refund, but you could have offered it to the second highest bidder (if available), or you could have relisted it and got that relist fee refunded if it sold successfully the second time round :)

As regards gumtree, many people will not even bother knocking at the door of a seller if at first sight the vehicle clearly does not suit their needs due e.g. to the condition. Ensure the vehicle is as fully and accurately descibed as possible to ensure you attract the market audience who would have any interest in buying it.

You could try not mentioning mot in your ad and when you get the calls tell them you will put an mot on it if they like it(remember to factor in what you expect the mot to cost you in the price though)Make sure you get a decent deposit too,you dont want to fork out for any repairs if they drop you in it!.

Only problem with that is when you go to put it in for the MOT and it fails with £100's needing done.

Out of curiosity, whats the age of vectra and what were you looking for money wise/what did it make on ebay.

I know what requires repairing, a brake pipe, o/s/r damper and a tyre.

I'm looking for less than £200.

Very few people are going to want to buy a car with no tax or mot.

It will be a goldmine for spares. I stripped and rebuilt the gearbox a couple of years ago, new exhaust and catalyst, new fuel tank, sound engine, i could go on and on.

Take it to a Council MOT centre.

you obviously know what you're doing when it comes to spanners etc, so why not erm, make a brake pipe and fit a shocker?

You do get to that point in your life when you can't be bothered anymore but it would make sense.
