Everything will sell at the right price.

You just haven't found that price yet.

Put it in a 'real' auction with no reserve.
  • Try Auto Trader or Exchange & Mart (Motors). Gumtree is the new scammers paradise!
  • having no road tax on it will make it less attractive to buyers, some might be bothered with the hassle of taxing it,others might have a trailer to tow it away and some might just chance driving it home with no tax,but most will probably buy the competitions car at the same or similar price with road tax on it.

Is it worth getting it MOT'd at least? If ther answer is no then it's a scrapper. 12 months MOT will probably add £300-£500 to the value.

The only other hope will be to sell it locally to someone willing to tow it a short distance and has some knowledge on what is required to get it through an MOT.

For mere mortals it is just too risky.
  • Very few people are going to want to buy a car with no tax or mot.

File a non-paying bidder report on ebay quick to get your fees back (although by the sounds of what you say it may already be too late for this).

I've had no problems selling two cars on gumtree. First took about 3 days and the second one was listed this Saturday afternoon, got an email an hour later and was sold within 24 hours.

I know it is no use to the OP as they already tried it but it may be to anyone else reading the thread.
  • With no tax or MOT it's worth scrap value only IMHO.
Maybe call up one of the ads in the back of your local paper and they can take it away :)
