Play.com Received order multiple times!

I ordered a boxed set of DVD's at the beginning of October and my credit card was declined (due to me forgetting to activate it) and the order cancelled. I sorted out the credit card and then placed the order again.

I then receive 2 x box sets in the post! The order status for both sets was stuck on 'in packing' for nearly a month and on Monday this week it finally changed so I could return 1 set.

On Wednesday this week I received an email saying that my order for 2 x sets was in the post and yesterday morning I had another 2 x boxsets delivered!! They haven't charged me for these.

So now I have 4 in total and I will be damned if im paying the cost of the return postage for 3 sets that I did not order.

Anyone else had this problem with Play?

Have you been charged for 4 box sets? If not, why not just keep them?

Because why give yourself the hassle when Play have 6 years (presumably under English law) in which to claim them back or their value. Honesty is the best policy. The OP should make a reasonable effort to inform play. I believe if play then don't act then you're entitled to keep them after 6 months or something.

No I haven't been charged for sets 3 & 4. And im more than happy to return them, but not at my cost. Can't get through on the phone due to Play being mobbed with calls about them sending out the wrong order emails to the wrong customers.

it says that play.com have had a huge computer problem, that seems to coincide with yours. Might be why?

Because Play are NOT based in England and it does not apply to English law... It's based in Guernsey or Jersey.
  • A neighbour of mine ordered a £15 floor mat and got sent a £200 Dyson, not from Play though. She contacted whoever it was to arrange for it to go back but they had no record of it at all so she still has it 2 years on

I received the wrong item from Play - they advised me to send it back and they would refund postage, which they did. Inconvenient - yes, but it was the honest thing to do.

mmm i guess its easy to confuse a floor mat with a dyson, if if they had the same product number the person picking the item should have realised he should have picked a floor mat which is easy to cary and not a dyson which is heavy

back to the OP's question, id contact play and see what they say, they could arrange a courier to pick up the items, how much were the boxsets and was it anything god
