Illegal use of church car park for sports event parking?

Another member of the Neighbourhood Forum has approached the vicar who knew nothing about it. He asked us to suggest what he does next? (He is an elderly man and unlikely to bring in his own opposing team of heavies). Question is, what to do to prevent it happening next time or indeed what to do if it happens- we are not optimistic that police will take any action at all if approached.0

Are you sure some big chaps couldn't be found in the congregation or community? What I'd do is wait until the car park was almost full on a sports day, then approach them and thank them for being so charitable and collecting much needed funds for the local church. Maybe someone with a digital camera to take a nice smiley photo for feature in the church magazine.0 -
Go in and confess your sins of making money from the car park on a weekend
I must admit I have seen some car parks where I'm sure you could stick a cardboard sign up with a price, stick a high-vis vest on, and get people to pay you money to park in what is a free car park - making lots of money in the process.0 -
Easiest but not cheapest solution, put up a locked gate. Then arrange for some volunteers to do exactly the same thing this time the funds raised to go towards paying for the gate, and in the longer term to pay for the church roof etc.0
