Hi all,
I moved from the UK to work in Dubai back in August 2005. I will be back in the UK for the month of July and would like to be able to use broadband. Before I left the UK i had an account with Zen who although not cheap offerred excellent customer service with a great knowledge of how to set things up to work with Apple Macintosh computers (an area completely ignored by many ISPs!).
Does anyone know a way I can get broadband for 1 month? Maybe this could be via a trial? I don't really want to pay out a fortune on line set-up etc for 1 month but equally I don't really want to use a dial-up connection.
All suggestions would be much appreciated.

Look on orange's website, i think they are offering a starter 1 month package.
Just had a look and you get ur money back if you cancel in 30 days0 -
BT will bill the line setup fee plus one months service so any ISP taking you on for 1 month is going to spend about £55.
I can't imagine many companies being able to carry that sort of a deal.Tight fisted accountant since birth.0 -
From what I know of the market, I don't believe that there is a true solution available that is strictly a 'one month' contract - unless, of course, you go with a provider that charges you the connection costs up front.
Kind regards,

Cancel within 30 days and you escape the contract and get your money back, just say it was not as fast as u expected as a reason to cancel.0 -
I *think* Virgin did a no-contract type of broadband package. I vaguely remember that the initial fees were quite expensive, so for most people it wouldn't be cost-effective to just have a month's connection. Might be worth a look, though...0

This sounds right. The Phone Co-Op will offer the service for a £29.99 connection fee and £19.99 for 1 month service, total fixed cost: £49.98.
I have found them extremely helpful so an honest call with your requirements may get you the service you need.0 -
Do you have a laptop? It might be cheaper and less hassle to sign up for a 30 day pass with one of the wireless operators if that's practical. The Cloud are starting blanket coverage in several cities this summer.0

but there is now a £50 charge if you leave within 12 months0 -
Investigate the Virgin ADSL route, I remember it being 1 month contract at some point.
See if any neighbours have a wireless router and dont mind sharing their net for a few weeks. This of course is the nicer version of what can be done.
Look into broadband over GPRS/3G using your mobile on a PAYG basis.

as i said... yes virgin is a 1 month contract, but you have to pay £50 if you leave within the first 12 months0
