Orange Declined
Hi,
I hope this is the right forum. I applied for a contact from Orange but have been declined. I've been an Orange PAYG customer for 2 yrs, I'm a student, I have a student current account with 1K overdraft which I haven't touched, other than that I don't have any other credit. CreditExpert score me as 966/1000 and I'm on the electoral role at current address. Any ideas why I've been declined? Orange didn't give a specific reason they did said to contact CIFAS and Experian (no probs with either). Everyone at address has good credit history. Any ideas?
Also Orange isn't showing on my credit report, should it?
Thanks

Did you apply direct with Orange or through cpw or p4u? They do their own credit checks rather then letting Orange do one.
How long have you lived at the address and are you on the electoral roll? Either of those can get you refused.0 -
Hi Jon
I applied direct with Orange. 5 yrs at address. On electoral role at address since 2006 (as just 20).0 -
Hum, odd...
Have you tried calling the payg team and asking for your pac code to move to another network? People on here have tried that and been offered a contract to keep them?
As to why you were declined, they don't have to give a reason, but if the search isn't showing, that is a bit strange (its been more than 28 days? It can take that long to show on the Experian sytem).0 -
errmm i use to work at p4u and this maybe due to something very stupid but you have to check your credit history however if u pop into a p4u there system is different and usually allows you to get a contract where orange may decline.
Did you by any chance try to get a contract in the past but not take it? That maybe why....0 -
Or perhaps you just don't have much credit history? Orange tend to be quite strict from what I gather.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j
Do something amazing. GIVE BLOOD.0 -
I agree with Jon01, try ringing PAYG cs and tell them you are leaving and then when they ask why, say you want a contract. If you are still declined, try Three.0

I rang Orange for a PAC code and they were 'see ya'! Got an o2 iPhone contract sorted with CPW. £150 deposit. Not bad.
Thanks Everyone.0 -

FYI this is no longer true for CPW (and probably P4U), all credit checks are carried out by the network in question. See this mentioned quite a lot so thought it useful to correct.

Ooh look - a mobiles.co.uk representative!
Perhaps you could tell us why you STILL have this mis-priced phone on your website, available for people to place orders, which you then cancel??

Isn't 3 days long enough for you to take this off your website???
Perhaps you just want to harvest all those lovely email addresses which you will then sell on....British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
The site can't be updated until tomorrow for various reasons, so the phone has to stay up (against our wishes, obviously - we don't want the hundreds of useless orders or the disappointed customers).
As per our privacy policy no marketing information is shared with anyone, ever and all customers can opt out of our mailing list when ordering.
I regret the mistake and our inability to correct it as fast as I'd like but there's no ulterior motive.
