Help me identify this Costco cake.

I went to an event & Costco were there trying to sign people up.
They had a cake to sample (looked like a giant fruit cake with nuts on top), looked like an Xmas cake type thing.
The cake was gorgeous:drool:
But I don't want to join Costco (too far for me to bother often).
It was a dark cake looked like a fruit cake sort of thing, but when cut into it was soft & sticky like a Jamaican ginger cake sort of consistency & it had fruit & nuts on top.
I don't really like fruit cakes or even Xmas put ,much but I loved this.
Anyone know what sort of cake this Costco cake is?
They must sell it/similar elsewhere.
Or I would try making it, if I knew what it was called.
I want to get one for Xmas.
ETA I've never eaten Dundee cake, but I looked at one in the supermarket the other day & this cake was like that on the top. But the Dundee cake seemed heavy & this Costco cake had a lighter texture.

Damn, I hate mysteries, if I look in my cookery books, 'cos you know what its like flick through one for a recipe and two hours have gone before you realise, I shall blame you if the sausage casserole runs late.:rotfl:Woofles you need to get out of that house. You are going insane:eek: - colinw

I think (I'm hoping) its something a costco regular will just recognise:D
They don't let you in the door with an account do they:p0 -
I think you can actualy go into costco and have a look without joining. Don't think you can buy anything but it might be worth giving them a call and asking? That way you could go and check the ingredients etc.

it sounds like their gorgeous carrot cake to me. It's quite gingery and has raisins in it. It has nuts round the sound and soft icing on it. It is so yummy!!0

Ring them up, and pretend that you're interested in ordering a cake for a function. If you describe the cake I'm sure they'd be able to tell you which one it was. You could be really cheeky and ask for the ingredients, as you've got guests with food allergies and you want to know what's in it. Most bakeries should have product specification sheets to hand as I believe that you need to be able to tell customers exactly what's in something if they ask. That should give you a rough idea of what kind of cake it is, and I'm sure you'd be able to find a similar recipe.0

At the end of this blog page is a pic of a festive- looking cake from Costco, with the bloggers own recipe. Not sure though. It's got the fruit and nuts, but don't know if the texture would be as you describe. Have a look anyway!!

Very similar, but the Costco one had more "cake", I think the fruit was mainly on the top.0 -
