Could i cut out the whole bunac thing and do it cheaper diy style
  • Can you get a working holiday for America, like you can for Australia? If so I would go there on a DIY basis, look for a job once your there. Then you will be paid real money, and wont feel stuck somewhere if you dont like it. If you want to work with children then consider being a nanny / o-pair. If not then go to Oz / New Zealand on a working holiday visa, work for a few months and come back via America. I wouldnt pay to work anywhere either!
  • To get a student visa to be able to work legally in the USA, you need to go through one of the big companies like BUNAC or CCUSA. It is a pain in the backside, but I tried doing it DIY, and couldn't get the necessary visa.
  • I wish i could do this. Im a qualified lifeguard, and swimming teacher here. But i've chosen not to pursue those career options. Despite the lucrative money. The course is more about what you CANT do than what you can. I don't have a bad bone in me, but it just made me warey and ultimately not really enjoy it. I can imagine in USA it is 10 times as bad.

I spent a summer teaching English in Italy, with ACLE. This company pays well compared to others like camp America where from what I understand you only get paid pocket money. I cant remember how I found them - I think it was just through at internet search.

Perhaps you are looking for something further afield, however once you have worked for ACLE you have teaching English as a foreign language experience which means you be able to work in lots of other countries. Plus this job was well paid enough that you can save money to travel after teaching.

    Hi,
I know you posted this a couple of months ago, but hoping you've subscribed to the thread.

I am considering applying to do me CELTA in Italy, but I looked into ACLE after reading your post and looks great, but how much acting and singing activities are there? I'd like to consider applying, but not sure I fancy acting and singing - I might scare everyone!

Also, have you applied to any English teaching jobs after taking part on the camp? A lot of jobs (mainly in Italy) that I have looked at require a CELTA or Trinity qualification. Have you been successful at getting jobs, on the basis of your exp and TEFL course with the camp?

    Thanks!
