Please can anyone help me? I have a secured loan with First National for £25,000 for 124 months started in 3/06. APR variable 9.6% and repayments started at £329.17. I specifically asked for no payment protection as had life insurance and income protection in place. On the signed documents payment protection is put as zeros but have been told that it has been included in the interest. Interest is on the paperwork as £14350.40. As this is a loan over £25000 I believe that the rules are slightly different or am I barking up the wrong tree and been given the wrong information? I would be grateful for any information you are able to give me. Many thanks!
Hi, if the loan was for £25K and interest rate was 9.6% over 124 months then there was no PPI on the agreement as I work it out. You can recheck it here

    Hi
Just a quick update. I wrote to London Scottish Bank on Monday and have recived a letter back today from the joint administrators, saying they will look at my complaint and get back to me within 4 weeks!

so the first reply was quick. I just need to see if they make me an offer now!

    Hi Di,

I have had a letter back today from the London and Scottish and they are telling me that I have no claim supprise supprise. They have said that there investigation is final and that I need to go to the omberdsman if I want to go any further,

I am intrigued though as they have sent me a copy of the PPI insurance t&c's for a 10 year PPI where as the original one is only for 5 years so they dont know what I had originally.

Do I write to them again or the omberdsman as they are say it was not miss sold and the law had not changed at that time?

    Hi Tony

Sorry for not getting back to you earlier.

This must have been their final decision if they suggested the FOS.

You can now complain to these now by either ringing the FOS or downloading and printing from the FOS website, remember to include a copy of the final letter you received.
    http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/consumer/complaints.htm

If this was called London Scottish, I thought they dissolved where many are claiming through the Financial compensation scheme instead, so I would beforehand contact the FOS to make sure with them first as well, and take it from there.

If this is the case where you do have to go through the financial compensation scheme (FSCS) you contact them to arrange for them to send you a claim form.
Just to make sure though are they called London Scottish or London and Scottish, some info below about them in default, where in this case you claim through these.
But sure the business would have made you aware of this, so do please check first with the above FOS.

And here the FSCS contact in case its this direction:
    http://www.fscs.org.uk/contacts/

    Default information

    Firms declared in default

You can search our database to see if the firm you are making enquiries about has already been declared in default by FSCS. This means that FSCS is satisfied that it is unable, or likely to be unable, to pay claims against it. A declaration of default opens the way for the firm's customers to make a claim for compensation to us.
    Firm Name:

    1. London Scottish Bank Plc
Hope this helps Tony, please keep us posted, cheers.;)

Hi tonyw, I think if its London Scottish then its the FSCS that you need to make the claim through and not the FOS. Di has posted the link etc in the posts above. Do you in fact mean the FSCS and why have they said you do not have a case? What year did you first sign the agreement as the FSCS can only look into complaints if you took the loan/PPI since 14th January, 2005??

    Hi Tony

As London Scottish have dissolved, if the company are registed which they are with the FSCS (The financial compensation scheme), you should actually do this from the FSCS and not the FOS (The financial ombudsman Service), I know this seems confusing, and you will get the hang of it.

Many have in the past gone through the FOS, where the the FOS have eventually passed the cases on to the FSCS when they realise they are unable to continue with the complaint, if the company have dissolved, as there is no company for them to contact for the information on investigation, even though the FSCS access, they do actually go by what you have written on their claim form and with any information you can provide them at a later date.;)

If it is actually London Scottish your claim is under it may be quicker if you go direct with the FSCS ( the financial compensation scheme), if you ring them they will arrange to send you claim form.

Apologies if you have already done this with the FSCS. X

    Hi Di,

Twelve months on from my last post and I have finally got a response after sending loads of paperwork etc to the FOS and the FSCS.

After a long time and sending info back and forth thay have decided that I have no cliam as the ins was taken before the 14th Jan 2005. (July 04)
Surely they should have told me this in the first place??

Is there any other way I can possibly get my PPI back.

    I wait in hope.

    TIA

    Tony

In respose to reading the above I too am currently pursuing a claim for misold PPi against a loan with Paragon through Easyloans uk,
we also paid for cover for 5years and the loan was actually for 15 years totalling 6K, we have some paperwork, so then wrote and asked the FOS to pursue for us. They will, although they cannot go any further with it until we find out the underwriters details. Which i am trying to find out. Have you any details of the underwriters for easyloans at all...? Or advice on who to try?

you have asked that question many times and not got an answer, theres no need to bring up a 2 year old thread to ask the same question you asked in a new thread!
