Managing that amount of money would be a full-time job. But it would be rather fun to set up an anonymous trust fund of which you were one of the trustees and secretly dish out some money to family, friends, those you knew you were having a hard time financially and your favourite charities. However, I certainly wouldn't move house or do anything conspicuous with my wealth. I wouldn't even change my ancient car which is quite sufficient for my needs. Who honestly needs that amount of money?0

You can. I seem to recall a big winner being outed by staff at their bank though.
You'd never manage to keep it a secret. Someone would tell.
A huge win like that would be very difficult to stifle. Even the thickest of neighbours might twig....
"well on Sunday morning, a group of well dressed people came to visit in a large shiny car, and (s)he's not been to work at all this week!".
Imagine it :j0 -
I've never done the lottery so i've never won a thing, but you could say i've saved a pound every week that i would have lost.
Well no you can't say that as you might have won something so you could say I kept a pound and lost a million.I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.0 -
Well, technically you can say "I kept a pound and lost a 0.0000071% chance of winning over a million. Expected returns of far less than the £1 stake, even when you take the lesser prizes into account.Well no you can't say that as you might have won something so you could say I kept a pound and lost a million.I am a Chartered Financial Planner

I would suggest buying into foreign cash.
As the Canadians have only issued 5 of the $Canadian denominated coins, you will need to go to the Austrian government for about 2250 of the Euro denominated coins.

You would need some cash kept in sterling for the fish fingers from the supermarket, a back garden, and a spade.0 -
Well I see all the winners have now gone public. I wonder if they will live to regret it. I read this morning that all the IT members of the syndicate at one firm just walked out immediately and left their jobs without giving any notice. In one way I can understand their knee-jerk reaction but does anybody else apart from me think that this was a thoughtless and selfish thing to do? What if a sudden mass loss of staff like this caused a small company to collapse with everybody else losing their jobs? Nice for the winners but no good donating some of their winnings to charity if their personal actions end up in causing redundancy for their fellow workers or causing the company to crash.0

On the radio it said they had handed in their notice.0

normally I'd agree but I think they work for HP and HP have been hacking down their staff numbers this year through redundency. plus wage cuts and pension scheme cuts.Well I see all the winners have now gone public.
