WOWWWWWWW!!!!! Aren't we fabulous!!!!!:D2010 MFW Challenge No. 112 Mortgage paid in full 27/08/10 I was MF!!!
But now I'm not - (Joint) Mortgage £104704.New MFW target £5000 overpayments by 31/12/2105 £400/£5000 = 8%SAVINGS TARGET - £25000 by 31/12/2015 £13643/£25000 = 55%No 17 Lewis Lane0 -
I have just upped my regular payment from £800 to £1000 a month. I pay £495 but overpay by £505 each month. My interest is £61 month so i am paying £940 a month off my £99900 mortgage. I am aiming to continue these payments and hopefully the mortgage will be at £89000 this time next year.
I will have to watch every penny to make these payments but expecting money to come in from csa sometime this year, as nrp underpaying since oct 2008 by £40 a week. Whatever i get ill put any lump sums into isa and rest regular payments into overpaying mortgage....so fingers crossed maybe able to make £1200 by end of year.
Thereby paying £1140 off capital x 12 equals uuummmhhh approx 12k0 -

First I started an account that would take care of annual expenses (Insurances, Christmas, Car service and even some budget if I want a holiday or needed car repairs). I worked out a budget for each / 12 and I've always put that much away each month from my salary...
So do we.
In the holiday fund account we even factor in spending money.0 -
WOW Zavarony, well done to you and all who managed to OP and be included in that whopping figure!
disgruntledgoat: The mortgage we have is an offset l really love them, anything we overpay is not included in interest repayments BUT of course we can withdraw the overpayments at any time for unforseen circumstances, l know we could get a better rate in an ISA but l can't be bothered to open another account with additional internet logins, etc. (This is probably bad 'moneysaving'!)
Well so far this weekend hubbys phone is playing up and is going back and now we have no running water in the kitchen, hope this isn't going to be the theme of 2010.......
Happy moneysaving all.0 -

We have a Nationwide mortgage, where any overpayments can be borrowed back at any point. Takes a couple of weeks from sending them a letter to receiving a cheque in the post. We've been renovating the house, new kitchen, new windows and doors, new radiators, new flooring and more. Purchases where possible have gone on a 0% Halifax credit card (for 12 months) and mortgage OPs reduced to pay for labour/ small spends. This means we haven't had to draw much down from mortgage. After work is finished, we'll continue OPing on the mortgage and then draw down whatever is needed to pay the credit card.2016 MFW OPd £2000, 2015 MFW OPd 3000 then bought new bigger house with bigger mortgage.Beautiful boys born May 2011 and October 2013

but I can get my overpayments back at any time so I suppose I'd do that.

Thankyou and the other people on his thread. I have now got myself organised. I have a spend account for food/clothes etc, a bills account for direct debits and wages and other monies goes into this, I also have an isa(for emergencies) and an easy saver for car/holiday/christmas. It would be interesing to know how other people organise their money.0 -
