The plan will be to do whatever with as small a loan as possible. Will find it very hard to get out of my MFW habits anyway I think! :rotfl:
I'm certainly liking the idea of a few months to indulge just a wee bit. We've decided today that we're going to take a few family members with us to Vegas next year and we'll have a big "mortgage no more" party in November / December. Congratulations again.
Cheers,

173 reporting in with another £50 OP for August. Not sure I'll manage any more this month - 2 short trips away (nowhere exotic - Newcastle & N Devon!), our anniversary, BF's 40th and the dreaded trip to Clarks for 3 school age children and one 14 month old - ouch!!

Well Hello MFW's, almost there. After August payment I am now left with a mortgage balance of just £257. Three years ago it was over £30k but a concerted drive, helped by all the contributors to this forum, has taken me to the brink of being MF.
However, just back from Portugal, my fourth trip in 3 years and dare I say it was looking at some nice apartments in the eastern Algarve. After treating myself to maybe another holiday after becoming MF, it is a tempting possibility. But the thought of another mortgage well, who knows?
I guess paying for a flat in Portugal, could be looked at as enjoying the fruits of my drive to become MF on my home in Scotland. Otherwise its only going to be saved, as a new car for example I will not buy.
Keep up the good work everyone, you'll get there in the end :TMortgage free

Number 95 checking in for August. Overpaid another £1,250 this month so still on track to hit our new target of being mortgage free by Christmas 2012. Balance now outstanding is a tad over £45,000 - it's nice to see that figure drop nicely every month now.
With interest rates looking like they are on hold for longer than people thought we should have our mortgage down to an amount where when they go back up it really should not have any real impact on us which is also a good feeling. Naturally by the end I will be ranting about how low interest rates are as I will be a saver!! thank youWe have money in PSBs because when my OH was made redundant last year the company didn't take enough tax - so we will have a rather large tax bill to pay in January:eek: I wanted the money fairly easily accessible and safe but somewhere that I could forget about it. We've only won £225 (whoo hoo!) - but that's still £225 for money that isn't ours in reality - and there's always that slim chance that it could result in a big win!!:D:D
Having done a rough tax return for him I think we'll have £1k 'too much' put aside for the bill - I think everyone can guess where that'll end up going!:rotfl:I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -
