  • Not all agencies do this, only some. I think it is because they feel that their CV's represent their candidates to the best ability. They are clear and tailored to the job but different agencies will do them differently. Ask any agencies you sign up with whether this is something do. If they do, ask to see it when they have formatted it or you could ask them not change anything and see what they say.

They use it to remove your address and info - and add in their own stuff usually to make sure they keep control

    I see.

What other 'info' is removed? I'm sure it's not my name on the CV. lol. :p

When they add their own stuff, what do they usually add?

Some do remove names - inserting a reference number instead so you become candidate number 22884VB or whatever.

They may remove anything which would allow an employer to trace you, current employer and job title for instance.

If they like to use a standard CV template they may remove your "personal profile" or add one (no doubt saying you "work well either independently or as part of a team").

They would remove references - or might add "references available upon request" if it is not already there.

They might remove early career history from an older person's CV.

They could remove unnecessary details which some people include - marital status, names and ages of children, enjoying sky diving as a hobby.

Basically when it's out of your hands, it's out of your control.
