Which is better? - "Furnished upon request" or "Available on request"

As part of the application process, the temping agency ask me to fill in a form where I could put referee contact details.Of the two I would suggest Available on request is better, however you do not need to put anything, if references need to be taken then the agency or any new employer will ask you for them. Better save the space to fill with more important information.
You can send the updated CV to the agency but to be honest for such a small change they may not bother switching them.
It is a small change. Changing the word 'furnished' to 'available', as well as adding two words for a sub section on my CV.0 -
Put available on request....I know I'll be doing this when I apply for jobs after uni, as I'll also have my portfolio of short films from last college project onwards to put in (only the ones which get good grades - to show me at my best) and possibly any other stuff I manage to do in between.** Total debt: £6950.82 ± May NSDs 1/10 **** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **
**SPC 2012 #1498 -£152 and 1499 ***
I do it all because I'm scared.

I don't know why some example CVs put 'Furnished upon request'. I was thinking it's a more posh/professional way of saying it?

I'd say it was old-fashioned posh / professional, but it sounds outdated now. 20 years ago, I might possibly have wanted to use 'furnished', but since then I've had some Plain English training.

I've read that that 'furnished upon request' and 'available upon request' are the same thing. I'm not sure what do recruitments agencies (including temping agencies) and emplyoyers think about the phrase 'furnished upon request'. I'm just worried that they won't understand it.
If I change it to 'availale upon request', would they actually want my updated CV, just to reflect that change? I have given a hard copy CV with 'furnished upon request' on Friday. I have an appointment next week with the temping agency for an informal chat, and thinking about giving the updated CV with the 'available upon request' on it. Is it worth giving an updated CV with the phrase 'available upon request? Or would they not wan it at all, since they might know what it means?0 -
I'd hope that agencies would know what it means, but I can't say whether it's worth giving them a revised CV. Best to ask them.Signature removed for peace of mind0

It was paper format.
In that case, unless they go in for faxing CVs, they will be re-presenting it, most likely using their standard template. This will take out your contact details and possibly your name also. So putting actual referee details would also be removed when they submitted to a client.0 -

Ok.
Also (I've just remembered), they also want an electronic copy too. Why would they want a paper and electronic version?
When I was at the temping agency, they provided a seperate form to write down referee details. I'm a agency worker if I get employed.I'd hope that agencies would know what it means, but I can't say whether it's worth giving them a revised CV. Best to ask them.

Electronic Cv's are preferred by most agencies so they can store the copy on their system and then easily email it to any clients. They can also alter it to put it in their standard format before emailing to clients (yes, they do do this). Most agencies and companies HR recruitment teams are trying to phase out working with paper and moving to electronic systems.0

Fair enough.
Why would they want to put my CV in their standard format? What does this format look like usually?0
