WARNING: Sky customers beware of bogus calls

Hi i had a phone call from someone claiming to be from sky television telling me my payments was being reduced, i was bit pre-occupied at the time of their call so i just said oh thats great, they then asked me for my card details to change the payments details so i gave them the long number on my card, then i realised what i was doing and told them i wasnt happy to give my details to them over the phone like this !! He had earlier on in the phone call give me a new number for sky to ring, so i said i would ring them back just to check before i carried on giving them my details. I decided to ring the number from the sky sevices menu and they confirmed that no one had tried to ring me from sky at all !!! So it obviuosly someone trying to get my credit card details !! i was so glad i came to my senses before i gave them all my details !!

Anyway just thought i would share my story so no one else will fall fir it like i very nearly did !!

The number they gave me is 08712344644 so please beware of this number

If youve given them the long number on your card i would hot foot it and cancel your card. quickly

I find it amazing that when people answer the phone they always have their credit card or debit card or bank details to hand to immediately give these details to the caller.

Anyone wanting my details, if I decide they are legit and I want to give them, have to wait about 5 mins until I find my card.

So I suggest that before anyone answers the phone they hide their bank details.

The only maintenance scheme that is approved by Sky is run by Domestic and General.

Hi, I have received loads of these calls lately. The one tonight the man became very abusive. I checked with Sky and nothing to do with them as has been stated. How do we stop them though?
