Really worried about this ticket/s Laystall street ec1

I received a ticket on monday for failing to comply with a sign indicating a restricted street. I never ever saw any sign and have driven down that road on numerous occasions over the course of the half term holidays.

My daughter was attending playgroup in holborn and the road the scheme is on has only about 5 parking spaces which were usually taken, the rest is double yellow lines or red route on that road. The road that runs across the main road is laystall street, and is no entry on both sides. So in order to get back onto roseberry avenue you have to drive round then go through the other side of laystall street, in the hope that someone has moved their car. Unbeknown to me there is restrictions, I went back and had a look and there are signs but positioned in a very odd place facing the traffic on the main road not the driver as you drive down the road. I am very worried, how many times i drove round and round hoping for a space I dont know. Its not likely that I knowingly drove down the road again and again if the sign was clear, but what are the chances the council will accept this. Hope this link works.

For what exactly? What sign was clear?

    Hi Neil

Pcn states Failing to comply with a sign indicating a restriction on vehicles entering a pedestrian zone and the sign I am referring to is the one that faces away from you as you drive down the road. Have just received 2nd ticket for same offence that week.

From that link, I see two signs there, each one facing the driver as he would approach the turning from any direction on the main road. I'm not quite sure what defence you're getting at.

    Hi

I drove down theobalds road on several occasions and never once saw the sign. The sign is not placed on the corner of laystall street and theoblads road it is placed further down. The angle of the road means once you drive down the road and are looking straight ahead of you the sign is not visble. youy can only see the edge of the sign facing away from you. The sign on the right is not visible at all at the angle when you turn. All this I did not see up until after receiving the ticket I walked down the road and saw the sign. As I said I have now received two tickets for this offence and expect more. If the signs were placed facing the motorist at the same position, I would then be able to see if it and reverse out, thereby not driving down a restricted street. This is camden council the same council that neil helped me get off a ticket which went all the way patas before they gave up, so they may have my cards marked. I have also read that they need to print the restriction times on the pcn which they havent done.

I don't recall what your previous one was for but for 'moving traffic' as this should be the PCNs are flawed.

Camden will argue and fight hard -- but winnable on documentation alone.

Pics of a sign that can't be seen will greatly help.

    Hi Neil

When you say the PCNs are flawed is it because of the point I made about the restriction times not being stated on them?

Search on www.pepipoo.com for 'Camden' and read appropriate threads.

Then please either post on here or on a new thread on their forums, some pics of the PCN front & back and the bay lines & signs (or lack of them). Include pics of your view as you drove into the road, showing what you describe as a 'sign that is facing away from you' as the driver.

Then you can get specific advice, it's difficult without pics TBH.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

    No

    You need to show it.

    Hi

I drove down to laystall street today after the restriction times and as I suspected it was too dark to get any decent pictures. I did notice however that on turning, because of the angle the only thing you can see are the shops on the right hand side before the road ahead. Earlier I read that an exact location must be stated on the PCN, and as laystall street crosses over roseberry avenue and you cannot go across from one side to another it is almost a seperate street. Could this also be a point to make when i make representations. Will get pics of pcn up tomorrow.

    Thanks
