Look what i've just found :j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:D
CASE NO: 206 0100473 – Camden Council
Laystall Street
The adjudicator said “I agree with the Appellant that the signage is not sufficiently clear and this is confirmed by the large number of vehicles entering the pedestrian zone. The road markings give no hint of the pedestrian area and the elevated sign is complex. I suggest that the local authority give urgent consideration to the signage”. The Appeal was allowed. This Appeal was one year before other Appeals which were upheld on the same basis. Camden Council has continued to illegally enforce restrictions that are not correctly signed.
Dont know when this was, but they're obviously still at it!0 -
That's great! Did you find it here:
http://www.penaltychargenotice.co.uk/site/moving-traffic-offences/pedestrian-zone-offences/adjudicator-decisions/
I can't see the dates of the decisions but if lots of people are still making the same mistake then it seems apparent that the Council have not amended the signs sufficiently (if at all) since the decisions shown on the link above.
Good luck with your appeal, sounds very promising.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks couponmaid, although thinking about it, I am really angry that there is no governing body which takes action against councils that knowingly trap motorists. How many people other have paid up without a fuss?0 -

I share your anger. When I was googling for info I also found info that said that less than 1% of Local Auth parking fines go to the adjudicator. Most people just pay up - I know I did about 10 years ago, when I got my only PCN for parking on a single yellow for 10 minutes in the daytime when I wasn't loading/unloading...
But for those people - like yourself - who do press ahead with an appeal, it seems that plenty of Councils make a habit of refusing appeals without proper consideration, effectively forcing motorists to apply for adjudication. Then the Councils often pull out of the hearing beforehand and cancel tickets, if they realise they might lose and the implications on other fines already collected at that place.
I suspect that's what will happen in your case, your appeals could well be turned down but don't be disheartened, your case looks winnable (and Neil says likely to be winnable also on flawed documents if you can show them here).
Please post up pics of the front and all the back blurb on the whole PCN, then you can work out the wording of your informal appeal.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I've just noticed the van driving in right behind me in the 3rd picture, another one caught!0

Can you please redo the front with the dates left on, this helps to see if they have screwed up the "payment by" dates.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0
