Help with useless council!

I reported a car some 6 weeks ago (did post on here but can't find) and IT IS STILL THERE...basically someone leaves their car between 2 roads on a bed, this is on one of the narrowest road in our town and it is also a short distance away from a main junction, as you can imagine it causes havoc as it is left between roughly 7.45 and 8-10am..not sure after that as dont go that way again.

I am so cross with our council who seem to just fob me off every time i call and have just had it again saying that a mobile unit went out 2 days ago and it was no there..IT WAS..i have asked for them to check and have been told r.e disabled badge they are allowed etc..this morning there was def not one in the window as i managed to park right in front of it due to the lights changing and could see the dashboard..so no excuses there..

So is there anyone else i can ring or is it down to them? i have tried the police who referred me to them. Out of pure principal now i am going to keep calling them!
Thanks

If its causing an obstruction then I'd have thought it was a police matter

Has it been dumped or does the driver turn up and park every day ? If the latter, could you ask the council to send a traffic warden to give them a parking ticket ? If the police don't want to know, perhaps they don't consider it a hazard ?

Sorry not much help. It's one of those things - if you or I parked one inch over a yellow line you would caught within minutes !

Good luck with your crusade, I would do the same.

Hi thanks for the replys..i have rung the police and they have said that any parking issues are down to the local council..grr. I have rung the council and still 6 weeks on they appear not to have sent anyone to check it out..even though they say they have it's still there.
It is someone who just parks there for about half hour but right when everyone is going to work etc so gets very buisy..the amount of times i ahve missed the lights due to having to wait for the other side if traffic to feed through is annoying me now..i am in a rush in the mornings and dont see why i should be late (as im sure others are) due to some one else being lazy.

Well we are i don't know how many weeks on and suprise suprise it is STILL THERE grrrr..i rung again yesterday as have witnessed a youngish girl getting out of it and running to it to get something and then back into a house..they said they would let the relevant people know..now i have had enough of their rubbish and wonder who i contact to go further with this? driving back in the dark horrendous weather we have had i will be amazed of someone doesnt smash into her..
    Letter to Council?..thanks
  • If it is not on yellow lines- it is a police matter, if it is parked on lines it can be either police or council matter . As for getting parked cars moved the council is relatively powerless in this situation without parking restrictions.

Can you post a picture please? Without seeing the road markings, restriction signs and layout, its difficult to give advice.

Hi it is on double yellow lines..i have called the police and they have said parking issues are a council matter..the fact that it is not a million miles away from our police station partially obstructing a road baffles me as numerous ones must drive past it..grr
As far as i am aware there are no signs up..again very hard to tell due to it being in such a stupid place..no way of stopping unless i block the rd like she has done!
the police will be next being nagged again!

Hi i can't post a picture due to where it is..it is on a buisy road that allows 2 cars to go up and down which is pretty tight..this car is parked on double yellows between 2 side roads and not too far from the main junction..when coming from either side you have to slow right down and usually stop to check no one is coming the other way..verr out and either get stuck due to someone coming through the lights quickly or pass as quick as you can..this then leads to jams as a car gets stuck along side it. I know it is very hard to visualise if you can' see it but like i said above..short of me stopping my car and causing havoc (plus i dont have time in the mornings) i cant get a picture..i have the reg though so thinking of popping into the local station and speaking to them.
    Thanks for the reply.

Are you able to find the location on Googlemaps and post the link here so we can try to visualise it?

Council paints the yellow lines and are usually responsible for enforcing them.

Holders of blue badge disabled permit may park on single/double yellow lines - providing they are not causing an obstruction - for up to 3 hours in England and Wales. However even blue badge holders cannot park during the time there is a ban on loading or unloading, the times will be shown on mounted plates on posts. A 'No loading zone' is identified by yellow marks on the kerb.

    See https://www.askthe.police.uk/content/Q388.htm?letter=D

Have you spoken to your local councillor as they usually know name of someone to put pressure on in Transport department? Tell them it has no blue badge is causing an obstruction and is left there for extended periods and ask why council is taking no action. And write to Head of Transport Planning at council or even Chief Executive.
