Sorry, but has anyone verbally abused the poster or just disagreed with what they have posted?
It's a shame you where not here last year when Chucky, Dan myself and many other "bulls" were getting proper abuse not a difference in opinion.
Can't remember any one stepping in then, but that my memory.
But if you think I have abused or insulted the poster please point it out and I will say sorry without hesitation
Yes, some people have abused the poster and/or made fun of him. My post 39 covers some of it, but people can see for themselves. However, you're not an abusive poster, so there's nothing to apologise for.
I was here last year, and the year before, but what happened then is irrelevant now. Whatever the rights & wrongs, it is too late to change the past.
Finally, I'm not 'stepping in,' as you put it, to assist Tom, who appears well able to cope. It's more about how people see this board. As you can see, this thread has had just one genuine visitor today, who has dared to post. If that is repeated all over the forum, then, pretty soon, it will become irrelevant, except to a few combative types.0 -
the descriptive word 'abuse' is a bit strong but i'll go with make fun of him.Yes, some people have abused the poster and/or made fun of him.
and probably convenient for you to say that too... if you believe that Tom was being abused (which i don't think he was) or made fun of (which i could see why you would say this)I was here last year, and the year before, but what happened then is irrelevant now. i have you right there, how the forum is perceived is very important, especially to the owner of the site - you should raise this opinion more frequently especially when the 'combative' posters as you say are on the receiving end... otherwise you can come across as being a bit hypocritical and being one sided... which i don't think you actually areFinally, I'm not 'stepping in,' as you put it, to assist Tom, who appears well able to cope. I think one of the problems is that when you have three people posting against one person at the same time it looks like people are hounding.
It can be hard to avoid as one person posts then three people then respond and do not see the others posts until they have hit, "submit reply"
I hate abuse on here and never thank it (well not on purpose) but to be fair I have seen some nastier stuff on here.
But sure Tom can stand up against any abuse, or I hope he does.0 -

I hope I'm not hypocritical. I react as things appear to me, rather than thinking too hard or dwelling on it. I've reported abuse a couple of times recently, but I haven't a clue now who was involved. I agree, 'abuse' is a too strong a strong word when what is meant is simple rudeness. Abuse is usually obvious, below the belt stuff, but some posters are clever and slip the knife in, almost unobserved.0 -
And this one, which I'm sure was bought by a couple who rejected mine, is also OTT for where it is and seems 'stuck':

Serves them right!!!:p
When did they reject yours? In late 2008 maybe, then they bought this house and already have it back up for sale?0 -

Earlyish 2008. Yes, I don't know what's gone on there, but I'll swear it's the same house, though fairly bland, so outside chance of an error.
As I recall they were in a desperate hurry. Agent told us they 'will buy something this weekend,' and they did, but not ours!
Bath has hospital staff, uni staff and MoD staff moving up and away all the time, so it might be a promotion and therefore quite normal. It could be the other thing as well! Personally, the location on a busy road would not have suited me, but I think it was detached v semi that clinched it. Understandable. Our big garden also scared them (and they didn't know I had more behind a fence, which I still own!:D)0 -

Of the 110 on house buying, I'd be surprised if more than 20 are logged in.
I really don't know about that. I use browser cleaner to get rid of all the gunk in the computer every few days, but the cookie, or whatever, stays intact and I'm always logged-in when I get here.
ETA: You can tell I'm into all this technical stuff....not!0 -
Don't MSE have an abuse button? Just keep pressing it. Something will happen eventually.
I think it is better if that's kept for extremes, not just a bit of unpleasantness. I've used it in the past month or so, but I didn't look to see if anything happened.
This board has taught me a lot and saved me literally thousands, so I'm keen to see it continue. To do that, it has to attract new people, like you.
Anyway, welcome to Martin's Room 101.;) Hope you stick around.0 -
If 2 years ago houses were selling straight away at the original asking prices and now the asking prices are starting at about the same level but are being dropped several times before the property sells then it's a reasonable deduction that the selling prices are now lower than 2 years ago.IveSeenTheLight wrote: »You compared in your first post.
"This so called rise in house prices", doubting it to be true because you are seeing asking prices on Rightmove and PropertyBee going down
Asking prices is really irrelevant, what is happening to actual sale prices
Edit: In my local area and for properties under £150K.
This is what I've been saying since post 1.Happy chappy0
