o2 issue, funny solution
So basically i have been with o2 for like 20 months now. I have at the same time had another o2 contract for my girlfriend, which they messed up the upgrade so we went with something else. I would talk about there mess up on that but it would take ages.
Anyhow what has happened with my contract is, i recently moved houses which is a major issue itself. So much to go through all the moving, changing of adress's buying new stuff.
I have found out i dont get reception at home, then i came to the realisation its through my whole area i have this problem and my mum and brother have no problem with there phones. They can make long call without a cut out or anything. I cant make any call what so ever it cuts out, it lock off and its mainly either the other person cant hear me or i cant hear them.
So i called o2. They told me they have a problem in my area, they will not fix it. They know about it and there is nothing they will do. So i asked for a solution, they told me to CANCEL!! So first time in my life a phone network asked me to cancel there line. So they he put me on hold and he came back to tell me that his manager said i will still have to pay for the remainder of the contract. I explained how stupid that was as there not providing the service which i singed up for and then told them it was my 20th month and ended up canceling my contract.
I didnt really use the contract like i normally do because of the recpetion issue so i asked for a bit of refund, then a manager came on the phone and told me why they cant refund me anything. It was because i moved house and they didnt care lol.
I am not too sure why but o2 are getting funny, anyone calling up for an upgrade is almost being told to get off there network.(I know this i called up 3 days before for upgrading uptions and wasnt too happy with the service)
Anyone else got any horror stories with o2?
PS. I sort of wish 3 would suggest to cancel when the customer asks for a cancelation. The guys at 3 do anything not to let you leave. I recently cancelled a contract with them and boy did i go through HELL just to get a PAC code.

An operator won't cancel your contract due to signal issues if you move, this is because this is because you have affected yourself. If they lose signal where you first took out the contract then fine they should cancel given some pressure. But they won't take into an account of your changed circumstances like moving house, loss of job etc. That is because it is unfair on them as it is out of their control, and the decision was made by yourself.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

darkconvict i know what u mean but i moved like under 1 mile. I moved closer to central london. I live within 2-3 minutes walk to caledonian road and like a 5 minute walk from angel. Also the phone wont work in the whole area, its a mobile phone should it not have reception within london. For god sake considering the amout of people who live in london its increadible they dont have reception here.
Its a massive competive disadvantage, especially as orange do.
Anyhow i how 30% friends and family discount so i just went into apple today and got my self a 3GS white 16GB for free on 24 month contract for 45 pound which is 31.50 a month after the discount. The reception is still poor but at least with the iphone it shows you have poor reception whereas with my 5310 i have full bars but no reception! Im half happy now so thats a result.0 -
Sounds like you moved to a blackspot where 02 has no signal towers.
Even if it is a small change, 02 won't be held liable for changes that you have made.
I'm glad you have managed to get some signal on your new phone, whilst there is some variation in signal reception on phones, im surprised the IPhone has picked something up where as your previous phone that worked fine was unable to do so.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

sorry i think you misunderstood me, the 5310 used to show full reception but really didnt have much reception. The iphone 3gs does seem to show a more realistic reception bar, also does seem to pick up a little bit more reception than the 5310.
I walked around my area today and was on the phone, the reception was terrible, i didnt get 3g either, i was trying to get capital radio to work but the darn thing wouldnt as it didnt manage to get any internet connection. The whole area is terrible unless if your on a main road. Well just going to have to live with it.0 -
Have you had a look to see what the estimated coverage is - http://webmap.o2.co.uk/?Search=Search
I see what you mean about the phone, maybe the old phone was faulty
