A problem I'm having with my nokia is that when I open some apps it tries to connect to the internet, which is ok but it automaticalloy tries to connect through WAP when I dont want it to
No point in paying my provider when I can use Wifi for free
I have tried connecting to wifi first, then opening an app but it seems to lose that connection and gives a message "connecting through 3
It gives no other options at all except to cancel. Then I'm back to square one.
Occasionally it does connect through my wireless router but most times not
Its very frustrating.
Could anyone please advise?

There are a couple of things you can do.

    1. Set the default connection used by apps.
Go to Connectivity|Destinations. Click Options|Default connection. I'm guessing the default has been set to use "Internet". I have this set to "Always ask", this way whenever an internet access is required it will prompt you for which connection to use (i.e. Internet, WAP, etc..)

    2. Move your "3 WAP" and WIFI AP into the Internet folder/group and then change the priority order to.
    WIFI AP
    3 WAP
This is assuming your default connection is set to "Internet" as standard (see option 1 above). By doing this, it will attempt to connect using your WIFI AP. In failing that it will use the next connection 3 WAP, and so on until one works.

Hopefully that will resolve your problem.

It looks like I wasnt so lucky
It works ok on some programs but not on others.
What is frustrating is that some apps ask if I want to connect to the network but they dont state which one. If I agree it goes ahead and connects without indicating which network its using
All I wish for is full control over what I am doing and I dont seem to be getting it
Surely there must be a way

  • Which option did you choose to do? Set "Always ask" or the connection priority in "Internet"?
