Is it safe- cheque from France??

Someone from france has won an item of mine, and have now sent the invoicey thing saying they will be paying by cheque. Ive never had this before! Is this safe?
I wrote to them earlier saying i had sent the invoice with postage costs (another person who didnt bother to ask postage costs before buying!) and they wrote back saying they didnt speak english, so i cant really talk to them about it.
Just really wondering if its as safe as a uk cheque?
Thanks

Sounds like a liberte to me...
Tell them PayPal only, if they don't have an account they can open one.0 -
If you google 'translator' there are a number of sites that can translate English into Frnech and vice versa. Send her a message stating what payment you will accept.Mortgage start September 2015 £90000 MFiT #060

even if you accept a cheque your bank
will charge you for clearing it,last time I
asked and it was well over 5 years ago
they wanted £15 to clear it.
The only other is auctionpix I think they charge
a £1,might be more now as its ages since anyone
overseas has asked to pay with a cheque or
money order.Although Canadian postal orders
made out in UK currency can be cashed in the
post office without any charge.:j:j:j0 -
Perfectly safe, but will be very expensive for you to pay the cheque into your account and could take a long time to clear.
Tell them Paypal only - even if they use eCheque it will be better.0 -
Do they mean a bank cheque or a Paypal echeque?
PM me if you want some help with the French...

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Goodness me... I read that last name pinkshoes as (coughs)... pinkholes!
I nearly choked on my tea! Must be a bit early for me...0 -
If they don't have Paypal you could ask them to pay by bank transfer and make sure they pay any fees. Definately don't accept a cheque in euros as you will have to pay a lot to cash it.0

There was a thread the other week about "carpet barn", which I kept reading as "carpet burn"
