Someone has stolen all my mobile credit :(

I had over £44 credit on my Orange mobile on 20th October, I have used £12 or so in calls and texts since then and today the balance went below £1.

I knew I hadn't spent over £30 on my mobile as I check the balance every day, so I called Orange and we looked at the balances every day since the 20th October, all was fine until today when it suddenly dropped to 91p, but the last 24 hours of tranactions aren't viewable yet.

She said it looks like a third party has stolen over £30 of my credit in the last day. I have received a few blank texts from short numbers recently but deleted them without replying or thinking much about them.

I have to wait 24 hours now until they will show on the system, the Orange advisor said she would call the third party on a conferance with me tomorrow and we would make sure they gave me my credit back. Its all sounds so weird. I have been told not to top up my mobile in the meantime and she put £2 on it for now.

Has anyone had this happen to them? Apart from friends, free Natwest balance updates and these strange messages I don't get any spam on my phone and I have never sunscribed to anything on my mobile ever. How safe will it be to put credit on in the future? How long will it take to get my credit back?

I'm so mad :mad::mad::mad:

Sarah

    Orange PAYG system has played havoc with me twice a few years ago and with my mom too. Where on some days your credit would be incorrect +/- £10-50. Then a day later it was all ok

    do you always have bluetooth on by default?

    reason I ask, there is some software people can use, that via bluetooth can control your phone and use your credit to make their calls etc...

    Not without a passcode or you accepting, though...

    I've done it to my friend to prove it, but it only affects certain phones. As you say most phones do prevent bluetooth access via a passcode but im not sure even that is 100% secure.

    There is software that hacks right through bluetooth security and give a third party control of the phone. Only on some models it has to be said, but it can be done.

    I believe wit works mainly with Sony erricsons, but It can be done with some oher phones too

    If you leave you phone lying around, i.e at work at office ( I work in a kitchen and leave mine sometimes) all they have to do is acvtivate the prog, if your not about they can click accept opn your phone and job done, they only have to connect once and it will remember the info

    The software is called Super Bluetoothhack and it no longer works on recent phones...only much older versions. There is another called Bloover which can also mess with older BT handsets but no longer works on new ones, that was only an auditing software anyway.

    I have a mate who let his mum use his mobile and she did some crazy TV advertised text deal which kept texting him and costing an arm and a leg each time...and the ad has the details of how to stop it..."text sodoffyouconmen" to 4456 or something...but as he hadn't seen it it took a while to stop.

    I'd be interested in this 3 way call...and what the Orange person is going to say? Surely they should be doing something more if credit has been stolen?
