3 mobile broadband advice

Just wondering if anyone can give me some advice.

About 9 months ago I took out a 3 mobile broadband 18 month contract, costing £30 per month for 15GB. It seemed the best at the time. I am currently renting and didn’t want to pay the £120 connection fee for BT, as I didn’t know how long I would stay in the flat for.

A couple of months ago I saw that they dropped the cost of the deal to £20 per month. I wrote and asked them if they would drop my monthly charge but they refused.

Is there any way I can get my cost down or cancel. Especially now that BT have dropped their connection fee. 3 also promised an increase in speed but I haven’t seen this yet.

Unfortunately I think you are stuck with it as you signed for 18months at that price so they are under no obligation to give you a better deal.

I had the same thing a long time back with an ADSL package - I'd signed for 12 months and part way through they dropped the price for new customers. I just left after the 12 months as I find that sort of behaviour to be shoddy - it wasn't as if I'd had a free connection or router or anything else. I was stupid signing for 12 months as there were monthly deals around even then.
  • I thought as much, just wondered if anyone knew any tricks?
  • £30 per month? That seems very expensive. There is nothing worse than to see prices drop just after you have bought something.

I would never take out a contract so I got a prepaid dongle that gives me 1gb per month and costs around £5. Hearing your story makes me feel very happy with my deal.

What if you say you will cancel? Is there a penalty?

As far as i know, you are stuck in that one... sorry. My friend had a similar issue and had to continue paying all the way up to the end of his contract..
