How do we know that they won't ?

wont what, need it or pass it on?

both take a major leap in faith

no, they wont need it and no, they wont give it away

    Sorry that's just illogical.

He pays £2 million a year in tax (and if she earns more then at least £4 million between them) and possibly will take a few quid of it out. If they didn't earn what they do then that £4 million a year wouldn't be going into the pot and there would be 1000's of low income families that would be affected, inlcuding the £12,000 a year working tax payer.

He is a priviliged footballer but that doesn't bother me as much as some people who can work but don't and just take out of the system. He will put in millions more in than he will ever take out.

Nobody even knows if he is going to claim the child benefit anyway so not sure why it's a big problem.

we dont have a welfare system to cough up a grand a year to a pair of millionaires

if you beleive THATS right you need help

lets assume they have claimed it (and her maternity grant)

if you beleive THATS right you need help, ALL state benefits should be means tested

So you would rather the welfare state be £3.999 million a year worse off ?

sorry you need help if you would rather not see money paid into the system and help those less fortunate.

Net result, with the Rooney's the welfare system is better off regardless of whether they take the CB. Without them the welfare system is worse off. FACT.

OK now let's assume they haven't claimed it.

Where does that leave your opinion of a couple paying over £4 million a year into the system ?

Just to throw a spanner in the argument, ok they pay 4m in tax, good for them, but does that help the less fortunate ........no, £65bil to LTSB RBS HBOS etc:confused:

Now that's just illogical, when the govermant is wanting to cut back on benefits, that every person that has paid tax/NI has paid for, just because they themselves are bankrupt from bailing out the bankrupt banks, and other 'mistakes'
Thats it, i am done, Blind-as-a-Bat has left the forum, for good this time, there is no way I can recover this account, as the password was random, and not recorded, and the email used no longer exits, nor can be recovered to recover the account, goodbye all …………. :(
