I see your point crowman, actually yeah, you have made me think. I guess it's the whole thing that they don't need any hand outs and us pauper's rely on the handout, sticks in our throat that their huge income is supplimented by it. Green eyed moster I suppose. It's when you relise why child benefit is there and how it's funded then yeah, as tax payers they're entitled to tap into that money just as much as the next man.

Thanks for making me think that bit more into it :)

I guess I just see it that while he is in a priviliged position he will pay millions into the system through tax and will only take a small amount out.

Still don't like him though when he's playing for Man U.

    I don't think so.

Not sure if HM claimed child benefit either.

I know that they don't have to pay car tax.

I doubt they get child benefit then or we would all know about it. I didn't know about the car tax, I can let that go though they are her roads.. hehe

In all fairness to them they will probably pay more tax into the system in less than a year than the rest of us will pay in our live times.

Can't personally see why they shouldn't be allowed it as where do you draw the line ?

    at the 40% tax band.........................

hes on £100K a week, she earns as much if not more, they are both millionaires

a working taxpayer on £12K a year is giving rooney child benefit?

    how sick is that?

    Does the Queen pay tax?
The Queen pays tax on a voluntary basis from her private income, but not on "head of state expenditure". But she did not pay almost £20m of inheritance tax after the death of the Queen Mother: this, says the royal website, is primarily because "constitutional impartiality requires an appropriate degree of independence for the sovereign".

    see above;)

Your point is very valid crowman19, but when you look at it realistacly, as they dont need it, and it is supposed to improve the life of a child would it not be better to pass it down to those less fortunate:confused:
Thats it, i am done, Blind-as-a-Bat has left the forum, for good this time, there is no way I can recover this account, as the password was random, and not recorded, and the email used no longer exits, nor can be recovered to recover the account, goodbye all …………. :(

    Sorry that's just illogical.

He pays £2 million a year in tax (and if she earns more then at least £4 million between them) and possibly will take a few quid of it out. If they didn't earn what they do then that £4 million a year wouldn't be going into the pot and there would be 1000's of low income families that would be affected, inlcuding the £12,000 a year working tax payer.

He is a priviliged footballer but that doesn't bother me as much as some people who can work but don't and just take out of the system. He will put in millions more in than he will ever take out.

Nobody even knows if he is going to claim the child benefit anyway so not sure why it's a big problem.
