Best Cat Charities

Celia Hammond Trust for me. They went out regularly to catch every single feral cat living on the London Olympic site and didn't stop until they had the last tom. They subsidise treatment, won't put grumpy old feral Toms to sleep and generally seem to be focused upon welfare rather than paying mega wages to executive management or selling a 'brand'. Moreover, they helped me with one of mine when neither the PDSA nor PDSA were interested.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

Cats Protection doesn't seem to be as good as what you are lead to believe I have heard many stories like this about them. It is such a shame because people trust them to look after there pets.
I was originally going to get a new puss from my local branch when Orbit died but they did'nt seem interested.Such a change since I last went their about 5 years ago to buy stuff.0 -

I prefer to give to them because I know the money goes straight to the cats, food, litter and vet treatment not like big national charities who pay for offices, secretaries etc. Also know that Cat Protection don't like to help sick or old cats because they are not easily adoptable, my local charity used to be Cat Protection but left them to set up on their own as they didn't agree with their new, less caring rules at Cat Protection.
With both RSPCA and CP you can either donate to central offices with all it's paid admin staff, or you can donate to the local branches which are usually run exclusively by volunteers.
Apparently each branch is run separately, sets it's own rules within guidelines and has to fundraise separately. My Noah was taken in by CP as a stray in a dreadful state, see bottom of page:

He spent five weeks as a vet in-patient before he went to a foster home so obviously not all CP don't want to help sick cats! The local branch of RSPCA wouldn't come and catch him and would have PTS anyway.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
I find with Charities that it is so hard to find the right one. I just want to support the people who really care and love the pets that they are looking after. It is such a shame that some of them seem to be running charities for the wrong reasons but I agree with FF purrsinourhearts offer some great advice on this.
Thanks Everyone:j I can't do it all on my own, I'm no Superman!:j0 -
Obviously your Cats Protection is very good Firefox but I know our old one that changed got visited by HQ and were told they couldn't keep their golden oldies etc and FIV cats. Perhaps they, CPL, had to revert to old ways because they upset too many people with the new rules but our local Cat Protection don't have a very good reputation, wont take in many homeless etc which I found out through working at the local vets. Our local charity has many fans and will do anything to help cats in need.Every day is a new life to a wise man.
Sufficient for the day are it's own worries.:cool:0 -
Also had bad experiences with RSPCA who werent the caring charity they show on Animal Hospital etc. Wouldn't give them money anymore but they do the odd spaying and neutering van where they go round the area which is a good thing and other good things too but generally wouldn't support them.Every day is a new life to a wise man.
