Loads of information about independent cat charities on the Purrsinourhearts and CatChat websites. I'm just in the process of setting up a regular donation to my local branch of Cats Protection as I adopted Noah from there, I had quite a negative experience with my local branch of RSPCA.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

I got Daisy from ASSISI outside Newtownards. It's a very very good Animal Sancturary with a 'no-kill' policy.

This a charity that is local to me and I heard about them from an ex neighbour of mine who upon buying a garage found it to be occupied by feral cats. She got in touch with the charity who came and rescued the cats and neutered them all. They re-homed the kittens but put the adults back as they told her they would never be tame enough to be rehomed.
The stories on the website are really touching and prompted me to make a donation as I would like to think if ever my cats escaped and got hurt they would be taken care of by someone like this.:happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0 -
I know one guy who left his Cats with cats protection whilst he was away on his holiday during which they lost one of them. Apparently the Cat jumped out the window. It is really sad because this guy does a lot of fundraising for Cats Protection and then they lost his Cat. He is heartbroken.:j I can't do it all on my own, I'm no Superman!:j0

I like the Blue Cross. They aren't just cats though. Although my local branch is mostly cats and a few rabbits.0

I support my own local cat charity where I got my 5 cats from. I prefer to give to them because I know the money goes straight to the cats, food, litter and vet treatment not like big national charities who pay for offices, secretaries etc. Also know that Cat Protection don't like to help sick or old cats because they are not easily adoptable, my local charity used to be Cat Protection but left them to set up on their own as they didn't agree with their new, less caring rules at Cat Protection.Every day is a new life to a wise man.
Sufficient for the day are it's own worries.:cool:0 -

Cats Protection doesn't seem to be as good as what you are lead to believe I have heard many stories like this about them. It is such a shame because people trust them to look after there pets.:j I can't do it all on my own, I'm no Superman!:j0 -
The Ragdoll Rehome Group for me. This is where I got my fabulous boy. They really do make the most wonderful pets.0

I do homing visits for a rural town branch of Cat's Protection. I have got to know the ladies (and some men it must be said) fairly well. I am constantly humbled by the incredible work that this group of people do on behalf of cats. They work exhausting long hours running events, trapping cats to neuter & re-home, sitting up with sick cats, taking phone calls at all hours and after all this look after homes/children/jobs and their own animals and the cats in the foster pens they have in their own gardens etc etc etc.
One of the ladies, Jane 'specialises' in the 'golden oldies' and does a brilliant job re-homing and caring for them. I also could not tell you how many times I've heard one of the gang has 'adopted' yet another cat who cannot be re-homed due to behaviour/health problems (and I am one of them). I feel ashamed at times that I do not do as much as some in the group for various reasons - but I do what I can when I can. But one thing is for sure I have massive respect for these people. I also know they work closely with other animal charities in the area - often helping each other out.
They deal with alot of sadness and oftentimes the darker side of humanity - but they keep on doing it - for nothing else but the cats.0
