No, of course they cannot physically force anyone to hand over a deposit but they are trained and well versed in ways to ensure that the punter has little ground to stand on when things go tits up.
They use any method available, mental suborbination is easily acheived:rolleyes:
?? Either the customer wants the car and hands over a deposit or they dont want it and walk away...simples.
Of course i realise that high pressure selling comes in to it and as i said I dont have much time for car salesmen but individuals do have a resposibilty for their own actions.....well they used to!0 -
If there was a cooling off period on a car deposit because you just changed your mind than there would be no need for a deposit system at all.
On rare occasions you can work with the dealer to receive some of it back and let them keep so much of it as a jesture, Although in today's climate I cant see that happening very often.War does not decide who is right, It decides who is left.0 -
If you definitely don't want that car then I'm sure the dealership would be happy to use it towards another car.
I personally wouldn't pay a deposit unless the car was particularly rare as there is always another. Either you're 100% sure and you commit to the deal or you walk away.0 -
