    dell inspiron 5150 laptop?

That's right. I know they use the 5150 designation for a desktop these days but a couple of years ago there was an Inspiron 5100 series which featured an Inspiron 5100, 5150 and 5160.

    Be VERY careful:

At the begining of May, I started getting very persistent calls from a chap called Jason who said he worked for Dell and was offering me a 3 year next day onsite International warranty - for the Inspiron 1300 that I had just purchased - for £77.50. The three years would start at the point I signed up.

To cut a long story short, after a few phone calls, I knocked him down to £65 and agreed to buy it. Before I would buy, I made him email me a copy of the agreement, so that I could see what I was buying and to ensure that I was dealing with Dell.

The T&C's did indeed turn up, Jason called me back, I agreed to buy for £65 and I was then transferred to "Kerry" at Dellcare - who took down the Visa details etc and confirmed the sale at £65.

Kerry told me that I would receive the paperwork within 5 days.

Guess what? You guessed it, no paperwork turned up - so I started to chase "Jason" who I now realised was actually Dave Adams, a Sales Team leader for Dellcare Glasgow - who in reality is a company called Bellcom who specialise in "Contact Centre Delivery and Outbound Campaign Management" - in other words, they just call people up and sell stuff for whoever pays them that week.

As a result of contacting Dave/Jason, I do now have the paperwork for my 3 year warranty and yes, you guessed it, my Visa now shows a charge for £77.50......

I am sure that it's just a mistake - not deliberate, and that I'll easily get it sorted out ;)

i got mine for £81.08 but cancelled since after 6 days they hadnt sent the terms and condintions. i knew i had to cancel by the 7th or 14th day so cancelled. do u think i made a wise decsion?

I paid £152 inc for 3 years. The laptop was about 15 months old at the time and the warranty started from that point, not from when I bought the machine.

The guy I dealt with was:- Vikram_T_Reddy@Dell.com

Thats pretty good i think? If you exclude the 3 months over 12 months (after its 1 year manufacturers legal requirement guarantee) that you already had the machine (for simplicity) then you are basically paying only about £50 per year (years 2-5 of the machine's life) to guarantee you have a working machine (labour and parts?)?

Thats what I thought. I don't normally go in for extended warranties but the repair that Dell did would have cost over £400 if I had to pay for it (motherboard and LCD replacement). I now know the machine is covered up to year 5 so I feel better.

I think I will call Dell as see what Deals they offer! Would be interesting to know what others are being offered so we can beat them down

Just to say that on Friday, I emailed Dell pointing out that I had agreed a warranty at £65 but that they had charged my Visa £77.50.

Well, I have to say, they couldn't have been more customer focused. Not only did I get a call this morning from the Account Manager (a real Dell one in Ireland) saying that the credit for £12.50 had already been processed and was on it's way, but he followed it up with a very nice and apologetic email.

So, Dell are very nice people and I got a 3 year, next day, on site International warranty for my Inspiron for 65 quid. I'm happy.

    DellCare just quoted me £75.

I rang Dell and they said £181!!!!!

I told them DellCare offered it for £75 and they suddenly said OK they can do it for £75!
