Hi I currently have a Samsung DVD recorder, but am looking for a small and cheap DVD player for my bedroom. This may seem like a silly request but my problem is not finding one, but finding one that will play the discs I use on my recorder. Have tried the discs on several of friends and family's players but with no success. I use DVD Ram discs and -RW neither of which will play on another machine. I want to be able to watch them upstairs so I am not taking up the family TV with things I have recorded.Any help anybody?

I got a DK Digital cheapy player from Amazon (£40-ish) and it plays everything I've thrown at it.
I think they went bust though as I can't find anyone selling them anymore.0 -
! bought a brand new dvd recorder from Cash Converters for £42.50. They had a lot of them in stock. PYE PRV 645. For this price use this one to record and your other one in the bedroom

PS
It plays -RW. And lots moreYou can always get more with a kind word and a 2-by-4 than with just a kind word.0 -
I bought one from WHSmiths for £40 and it's never failed and plays anything where my £400 Sony plays films and thats about it. The cheepy was Cyberhome if that helps.Regards,
Dave

I bought 2 of the tesco £18 (?) ones, and they only play every other disc that I've tried in them, so I wouldn't personally.
on the other hand, I've got a Yakumo that I bought for around £35 from Amazon a year or two ago that plays everything I throw at it, never failed yet
so impressed was I that I actually use a yakumo stereo in my car, and it's been similarly wonderfull (and was just as cheap)."If you really want to hurt your parents and you don't have nerve enough to be homosexual, the least you can do is go into the arts."0 -
Thanks for the suggestion Penrhyn. I think this is the same one as my friend has and she has tried my discs on it with no success. Thanks again, I'm sure I will find one somewhere. The trouble is I have to go through setting it all up etc to find out it doesn't play the discs, that is why I am asking for suggestions from others that have been tried already. If practice makes perfect, and nobody is perfect....................................

Try the Amstrad DX-3092 if Currys still have them.
£19.99 and it should play all of your discs + DIVX too0 -
Panasonic do a dvd player (model ends in ...29) which will play both RAM disks and -RW (they must be finalised first however). Its available for ~£39 in tesco and ~£40 in currys.
AFAIK compatibility of dvd players with RAM disks is really really limited0
