at least as much trouble as buying a used one then???
Most of the things that have been mentioned such as making sure the paperwork is right are no trouble in reality.0 -
As well as checking the exterior as already mentioned, make sure you also give the interior a thorough look over. Check that the dashboard and all panels fit properly, check that the seats are free from marks, scuffs, poor stitching, etc, and check that any extras that you have paid for have actually been fitted (e.g. cruise control, satnav, etc). Also check that the wheels are correct if you have chosen a specific design of alloy wheels.
It is also worth making sure that the interior trim is the one that you wanted. My parents once signed for a new car where everything was fine, but it was the next day that it occurred to them that the interior trim was cream when they had ordered grey. They were happy to keep it, but they had been so concerned with the outside being free from damage that they had forgotten to look properly at the inside. No trees were killed to send this message, but a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced. - Neil deGrasse Tyson (@neiltyson)0 -
Just to point of out if its a new car the V5 won't be available.
However it is a valid point so check it against the number the salesman gave you when you rang up for insurance or the number on the DVLA licensing form.
There is no reason why a new car shouldn't be perfect.
The main things as discussed are just check the condition of anything that they could later claim you damaged. E.g. Paintwork and trim. Should take 5 minutes.
Also check you have the obvious things like spare keys an arial, spare wheel, locking wheel nut, book pack, tax disc etc. At a good dealership this will not be an issue and will be easily sorted out if not present.
Everything else should be covered by warranty.0 -
