Spam to my mse registered email

I use an email specific to any site that I register with, I have this week started to get spam mails to the address registered for here - despite not having posted here for ages and having never given that email to anyone, or used it for any other purpose.
I'm curious to know how the spammers might have got it and if anyone else is getting them too?

You dont have to give email out to get spam these spammers use programs to create millions of emails address and then send out spam, they only have to get a few responses to make it a worthy venture

I've got spam to email addresses I have never ever used.
