Anyone lost BBC channels on freeview

  • Retuned my SHARP TU-R160H Freeview Recorder for the North West BBC2 shutdown yesterday and got BBC1 and BBC2 Wales (I am in Manchester!) Tried to manually retune and the channel that carries the BBC progs form winter hill (62) is not available because it uses 8K (don't ask) - not usable on the Sharp box and some others. I only bought this a couple of years back and otherwise it is working perfectly.

A call to Sharp tec support this morning (25 minutes of music on hold) confirmed that it will not work and there is no fix, it is effectively obsolete. Only solution is to go out and spend £150 for a similar unit (IT WONT BE A SHARP)

I am completely astounded that the digital rollout is such a mess. I thought I was completely prepared and sitting there smug as you like.

How can a company sell a product for a planned new technology and it not work at the point it is actually needed?
  • I had to retune mine 3 times to get the Beeb back.

Thanks for this thread, it has prompted me to do something about it rather than just watching what channels are left!

I've found out how to re-tune, at least on our main TV, and am now waiting to see what it comes up with.

At least it gave me a wry laugh with the "BBC1 does not exist" messages .

Edit: Yayyy sorted! Now for the other TV, not so sure about how to re-tune that one.

Edit again: Done that one too, except it's given me BBC2 Wales and I'm in Southport. Everything else okay though :).
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

  • I have humax 9300t and have had to do a factory reset on mine. Ended up with no bbc in lounge and wales in the kitchen!
  • As per ginvzt I just tried Menu>Installation>Default settings on my Humax 9200T & have found BBCs 1, 2 & 3 that I 'lost' on 4th and ITVs 3 & 4 that I lost a few weeks ago. Doing this will wipe your recording schedule so it'd well worth writing down what you're recording before you reset! And as technojunkie says they had been moved up to the 800s.
