Texting to Austrialia
Hi,
My friend has moved to austrialia and i am keeping in contact by text. Due to the fact they are 8 hours ahead and i work, to keep in contact online is hard so texting is easiest and we can keep in contact in real time (instead of waiting a day for a new message) the only problem is the cost of texts, i am with 3 (three) and its costing about 35p - 40p a text message, im only half way through the cut of date of when the minutes/texts etc start again and i have a bill of £30 plus my £25 a month contract is working out to be alot of money.
is there anyway i can text or any application i can use that would allow me to send at least cheaper text messages.
Phone: Nokia E71
Thanks
Alex

try using twitter, you can set it up to receive alerts when you have a reply and can use it on your mobile browsing.
i have the app for the blackberry so it bleeps and flashes when something comes through, there is also an app for the iphone.
that would mean you can keep in touch in real time
i suppose it would only be free if you have free internet on your phone, but most people do on contracts now.

If you were both on Blackberry, you could Blackberry Messenger all day long, see when they are delivered, and when they are read, and all fully included in any BB package.0

look at services that send an equivalent via data, for from a couple of pence each, such as Fishtext, and 3 charge you a fraction of a penny for the data0
