    Hi Guys

I've been looking to help my mum and dad sort out their wills. Well, they have not got one.

A work colleague recommended these guys, but wanted to see if any of you guys have used them

    willstrustslpa.co.uk

Thanks in advance guys really appreciate it.

They really should use a local solicitor. As far as I can this company are unregulated will writers with a half finished web site.
  • Hi, my dilemma is my daughter ex husband was an exorbitant spender throughout the marriage. She now has assets she wants to protect for her children that if she died, their father could not get hold of if he gets parental responsibility. Similarly, my assets if she inherits them. What is the most effective and cost effective way to resolve this?
    thank you

See a solicitor (not a will writer), ideally with a recommendation from existing clients for dealing with wills.  Don't attempt any home made solutions in these circumstances.

Any recommendations as to how to bind a will?  This was put together by Which but they pdf it to you so it needs to be bound.  Not sure staples are secure enough

No need to bind. Staples will be fine, so long as the pages clearly follow consecutively.

I thought staples were a 'no'? I think I'd go for one of those binders which grip the pages but do not make holes in them.
Signature removed for peace of mind

    It's a myth.

    Hi,
On Martins main pages he suggests the following methods for a simple diy will.

Lawpack* has a will template at £19.99. The legal advice site Compact Law also has some free-to-download templates.

Your Will Be Done (£27 for a single will or £37 for a 'mirror will'), allows you to update your will for free for life. There is an additional £27 charge if you want to have your will checked by a solicitor member of the Society of Will Writers.

Does anyone have any experience of using either of the above or know of any other recommended similar services.

The Your Will be Done sounds very modern being all online, but as  they are a very small organisation feel a bit uncomforatable about a will being up there when even the biggest hi tech companies get hacked.

I have a solicitor drawn up will already but both the exectutors/beneficiaries and myself are now quiet elderly and the virus may mean I have to change the will quickly, and there might not be time or the availability of one from a solicitor .

Here's a free one which I've had a look at and decided to try out:  https://www.netlawman.co.uk/
Various free options, as well as some chargeable ones.

I've used the netlawman online free will option. It seems to work fine, but does include some odd things which I have removed (children not allowed to emigrate, executors can pay themselves for whatever they like, even when not necessary etc). I'm a little nervous about the validity but it's better than nothing.
