I used to easily clear a bottle of wine a night when I was single (Come home from work, open bottle, have food and then sit down in front of PC with the wine and carry on working and usually only realise I have emptied a bottle when there are only drops coming out...). OH isn't big on alcohol at all and only had an occasional beer and rarely more than one so now I might open a bottle one night and have a glass and a bit for 3 nights out of it :) Some weeks I have no wine at all though and I find I don't miss it as much as I thought I would :) And DEFINITELY better for the waist :)

If you can both stop after a single glass then I would suggest buying boxed wine (3 litre jobbies) as it will last for ages and isn't actually bad wine :) But it'll only be cheaper if you can stop yourselves drinking more than a glass ;)

In the summer you can also take a glass of redwine and add diet lemonade for a summery sangria type drink :)

Tine that is really helpful, thanks- it's nice to know I'm not the only one who can get through a bottle without even trying! I'm not good with sticking to one glass I'm afraid *sighs* so a box may be dangerous for me (and OH is almost as bad). I may give your lemonade trick a go this weekend as that'll help me stretch a bottle a bit further. To be honest I haven't missed it this week and I now realise it's just a habit- get in from work, comfy clothes, open bottle, potter around the house... a quick top-up here and there and all of a sudden the bottle's empty.

:hello: Just a little thought that could save you a few pounds a month. I recently changed our pet insurance for 2 cats to Tescos. The cost reduced from £8 each to £6.63 for both a month. Might be worth looking in to?

And something I've found useful as well as a spending diary. I only draw out cash from the machine if I really have to. Otherwise I jot down "£10" in my diary but once it's in my purse it can dissapear all to quickly. Especially at the sandwich shop below our office :p
