    Jeff

Believe it or not, we've been there and I for one do understand.

Slightly different to you, i was feeling ill for a good 5 years but with no explanation, i felt frustrated, and people didn't take me seriously.

Finally this year i get a diagnosis of firbromyalgia, on top of the uvitis that i already have and manage well, but now i am told it looks like i also have ms too..

all three can't be seen.. they have taken away my health, my ability to feel normal, do normal things, i have a young dog i got last year, i can only just pop him out for his mid day..... needs. i feel frustrated that i have had to give up my job, which was my independence, my car, I've had to take a huge step back from reality and what stresses me out, i feel frustration with myself for not able to do my housework without being in pain for several days after.

I am slowly learning to cope, and understand, and manage this thing/s that has destroyed the life i knew.

I had a choice i could sit down and give up, but i'd get bored.
Or do what i am which is slow down and pace myself, I hate that i have to now rely on benefits, to defend myself to someone that doesnt know the illness or me, to justify why i need esa and dla.

I'm not a golf person but i used to love taking my dog for nice long walks....
I want to go back to that, but i would need an empty field to drive to, so i can let pup off his lead to run riot in safety.

Today.. was a fantastic day, i was privilege to get a mobility car, it's nothing flash (don't like flash) but it gave me my independence back, to me thats worth more than all the tea in china.

I'm looking forward to getting pup in the car and finding a nice suitable place to take him so he can enjoy a run.

What also helped me is to be part of a group, i belong to the facebook fibro gang, who have helped me through the low times, we help each other.

What may help for you is perhaps a grp that understand how you feel, and advise you on techniques to help yourself.

I bet once you get over the angry stage, you will feel so much better. go on you can do it, you know you can
Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?

I know people who claim this benefit and they walk about as if nothings wrong
I am glad you saw the error in the comment :)

Well what can I say but sorry. I never meant to express my feelings as negative towards those with hidden disabilities. My anger is aimed at those who still continue to go and play golf etc, I can no longer go and play golf which was my sport. I played at a high level even though im 53 years of age. Most of my enjoyable activities such as golf, going to football and even the jobs I once did around the home have stopped because of this disability i have been left with. What I do find annoying is those questions, how long for this and that, each action surely does not need timing. Im going to fill in the form once more to the best of my ability and wait and see what happens.

Hello Jeff I am really sorry to hear that you are upset and angry at being left with this disability, it really is awful to come to terms with isn't it?
The DLA forms are a bit of a nightmare and sometimes seem as though they are asking questions that are not relevent but you need to remember that those questions are relevent to some people with some illnesses and that the forms have been designed to get the information they need from the most people, the quickest of time. In order to help with your anger issues, try to think of it as every question you answer that you think is "a waste of time", think of it as a question that "helps someone else with a disability".
As for hobbies and interests, oh that can be heartbreaking at times. However, if there is nothing that we can do to make our conditions better then we need to find new hobbies. We hear stories from time to time of people discovering that they are brilliant artists or something when they take up the hobby after disability. You will never know what else you might be brilliant at until you give things a try.
Don't dismiss things too quickly as you might really like your new found skills and might even make money at whatever it is too.
It is not easy to cope with and the horrible feelings don't leave you completely forever but they can be dealt with so that we don't feel quite so angry or let down.
Hope that you feel a bit better soon. Try the DLA forms again and take them slowly, filling in one section then take a rest. It isn't a race so don't worry about that.
Please feel free to PM me if you want a rant or a rave :)
